The star-studded series Dahaad featuring Sonakshi Sinha, Vijay Varma, and Gulshan Devaiah has been garnering significant attention in the digital realm since its debut in 2023. Notably, it was announced by Zoya Akhtar that same year that a second season would follow. Recently, it’s been disclosed that the production team is currently planning out the shooting schedule for the upcoming installment.
Based on information from The Hollywood Reporter India, the team behind Sonakshi Sinha’s series Dahaad 2 is now developing the script. As per a source from the publication, streaming service Prime Video has given its approval for the project. It seems that the positive feedback received during the first season has motivated the creators to produce it on a grand scale.
The project is currently being developed, and it won’t be long before they decide on a filming schedule, according to a source. Regarding the cast for the upcoming season of this eagerly awaited show, it remains uncertain whether the original actors will return or if new faces will join the team. At this point, the streaming company has declined to provide any information about the project’s progress.
Back in 2023, Zoya Akhtar revealed to India Today that a second season of the series was indeed happening. She mentioned that her writing partner, Reema Kagti, had come up with a concept, and that work on the script for this new season had already begun.
In the OTT world, Dahaad – a creation of Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar – made its grand entrance, serving as Sonakshi Sinha’s debut on these digital screens. Alongside her, notable actors like Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, Sohum Shah, Ankur Verma, and Rytasha Rathore took center stage in the key roles. Critics and viewers alike showered it with praise for its captivating storyline and exceptional acting by the talented cast members.
In terms of their professional careers, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti kicked off the year with a strong start, receiving plenty of positive acclaim for their movie titled Superboys of Malegaon. This production showcased Adarsh Gourav, Shashank Arora, Viineet Kumar Singh, Muskkaan Jafferi, and others in significant roles.
Following its acclaim at esteemed film events such as the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, the movie made its way to cinemas this past year.
