Tribe Nine cancelled after only three months since launch

  • Tribe Nine has seen its latest update cancelled, and EOS announced
  • The servers will be shut off on November 27th
  • Paid Enigma Entities will be refunded, and in-game purchases will be halted

I seldom show genuine amazement in writing, but I believe many of us share this sentiment: The closure of Tribe Nine came as quite a surprise. As reported in a recent article, the servers for Tribe Nine are scheduled to be turned off on November 27th, and any future updates have been cancelled.

The ending for Tribe Nine was bitter and contentious, a stark contrast to just a few months ago when they proudly announced over 10 million downloads. This game, inspired by the same anime title and featuring artwork from Rui Komatsuzaki of Danganronpa fame, blended typical ARPG gameplay with the iconic Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series would be familiar with.

The abrupt cancellation of Tribe Nine is part of an unfortunate pattern observed in recent years, where numerous launches have ended prematurely, often within a year. This unfortunate reality makes it difficult for fans to fully engage with these projects, given the potential early end (EOS) that hangs over them.

Tribeless

Given that Rui Komatsuzaki’s art has been a hit in the popular Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on various platforms, it seems illogical for Tribe Nine to be removed from the service. But if it was quickly taken down soon after its launch, this could potentially harm developer Akatsuki Games’ reputation.

As a dedicated gamer, I can’t hide my excitement about the upcoming game based on Kaiju No.8, but as someone who’s been let down by Akatsuki in the past, I can’t help but feel a tinge of apprehension. After all, I’m not just any player; I’m a fan of Tribe Nine, and seeing the same pattern repeated isn’t exactly my idea of a great Friday.
