At ‘Die, My Love’ Cannes Premiere, Person Dressed as Bird Flies in Face of Festival Red Carpet Rules

Thanksgiving came early at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.

At the red carpet event for director Lynne Ramsay’s movie “Die, My Love“, an individual turned heads by showing up in a bird costume, leaving spectators puzzled about any potential connection. The costumed person was snapped in pictures alongside Raphaël Quenard.

Interestingly enough, it’s possible that the bird costume might have found its way to the wrong red carpet event. You see, a movie titled “Dangerous Animals” was being premiered just a few blocks away and around 15 minutes before the start of the carpet for “Die, My Love”. Although the film is about sharks rather than turkeys, the title itself could easily lead to some confusion. I guess we’ll never know if it was a case of mistaken identity!

Following this week’s announcement by the festival, a dress code has been implemented for this year that forbids nudity and overly extravagant outfits with large trains. In simpler terms, due to considerations of decency, nudity is banned on the red carpet and throughout the entire festival. Additionally, voluminous outfits that might obstruct guest traffic or make seating difficult in the theater are not allowed. The festival’s staff will be required to prevent access to the red carpet for those who disregard these rules.

The horror-comedy “Die, My Love” received a six-minute standing ovation at Cannes. This film, based on the 2017 novel, features Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson in lead roles. In this movie, Lawrence portrays Grace, a new mother battling postpartum depression and attempting to maintain her sanity. The script was co-written by Ramsay along with Enda Walsh and Alice Birch.

The evening preceding its debut, The Hollywood Reporter organized a dinner in the French Riviera, inviting the film’s cast, crew, and collaborators.
