The Indian delegation has dominated the streets of France, showcasing Indian cinema with great pride. One of them is the exceptional actress Chhaya Kadam, who attended Cannes 2025 with her Marathi film titled Snow Flower. In a recent interview, she shared that her first-time appearance at the festival the previous year helped her overcome the anxiety associated with wearing high heels, western attire, and other new experiences. 2024 saw Chhaya Kadam and her team from All We Imagine as Light making their initial appearance at the 77th Cannes Film Festival. As she embarked on a return trip to this worldwide occasion, Kadam felt more assured and comfortable with the city, its inhabitants, and the festival itself. Reflecting on her first experience at the event during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actress reminisced about how her debut ignited a sense of freedom and self-assurance within her.
The actress from Gangubai Kathiawadi expressed that the Cannes Film Festival significantly boosted her self-assurance. Moreover, this newfound confidence has extended beyond her acting career and into her personal life as well.
I was scared about many things, such as not knowing English, struggling with heels, and never wearing western clothes. But all those fears vanished, thanks to the Cannes Film Festival.
After making that statement, she conveyed her heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in the festival for helping her realize that, no matter who she is, she is exceptional. As for All We Imagine as Light, directed by Payal Kapadia, it was nominated for the Palme d’Or and won the Grand Prix at Cannes Film Festival 2024. This film also featured Kani Kusruti, Divya Prabha, and Hridhu Haroon in pivotal roles.
Besides Chhaya, Payal was present at this year’s festival too, but in a different role – as a jury member. In addition to them, stars like Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Karan Johar, and Vishal Jethwa are all attending the event and representing their film, Homebound.
