Japanese artist Face Oka is preparing to showcase his solo exhibition, titled “THE KIDDING HEADS“, at Mister Hollywood – a new venue in Harajuku, after its initial display in Osaka. The upcoming exhibition, “THE KIDDING HEADS“, will emphasize puppet artwork, which represents Oka’s first exploration into this creative domain and medium, thereby broadening his artistic portfolio beyond his renowned satirical drawings and statues.

Alongside the individual performance, a collaboration T-shirt will go on sale, featuring two unique designs. One of these designs resembles old children’s TV shows with its KIDDING HEADS logo in retro typeface. The second design showcases four KIDDING HEADS characters arranged like passport photos. The passport-style layout will be offered in black and white, while the first design comes in white and blue, each priced at approximately ¥12,100 JPY or around $84 USD.

Pondering over his creative journey, Oka openly spoke about his enduring appreciation for various puppet-themed shows like “Sesame Street”, “ALF”, “Hatch Potch Station” and “Nyanchoo”. He expressed a strong inclination towards exploring puppetry as a means of personal expression, drawing inspiration from artists who preferred to innovate with diverse styles instead of strictly following one method. By making his own puppets, he seeks to safeguard the integrity of his artistic vision, opting for self-creation rather than depending on others whose interpretations might inadvertently distort his original idea.

The Kidding Heads marks an audacious shift in direction for Face Oka, combining whimsy with self-reflection. The exhibition will be held from May 30 to June 15, 2025 at Mister Hollywood – our brand new venue.
