As a lifestyle expert, I’ve always been intrigued by the captivating journey of an actress like Janhvi Kapoor. Known for her roles in numerous films that have garnered both critical acclaim and box office triumphs, she’s about to reach new heights with “Homebound,” her official selection at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival. This film promises to be a pivotal moment in her career, as it brings her talent to the global spotlight.
The talented director, Neeraj Ghaywan, recently shared some insight into Janhvi’s journey, mentioning that she’s faced adversity through trolling in the past. However, with “Homebound,” audiences will finally get to witness the full extent of her untapped potential.
During a chat with Variety, Neeraj Ghaywan shared insights on Janhvi Kapoor’s casting in Homebound. He stated, “Although she has faced public criticism and online harassment, when viewers watch this movie and witness her true talent, they will recognize that there’s more to her than what they initially perceived.
In preparing for her role, Neeraj shared that Janhvi started contemplating her personal advantages. He disclosed that he provided Janhvi with B.R. Ambedkar’s book “Annihilation of Caste,” which prompted her to explore and grasp the social disparities.
Karan Johar stated that for Janhvi Kapoor, collaborating with Neeraj Ghaywan was more like therapy than just a typical work experience. He mentioned that the actress found it therapeutic and felt ‘rejuvenated’ after being with the director of Masaan. Karan disclosed that Janhvi considered the time spent filming Homebound as among the most significant periods she’s had on a movie set. “She felt she wasn’t just acting but going through a personal healing process,” he further explained.
In the movie “Homebound,” Janhvi Kapoor portrays the character of Sudha. Alongside her, Ishaan Khatter and Vishal Jethwa take on the main roles. This film was distinguished by being chosen for the Un Certain Regard category at the 78th Cannes Film Festival.
The main idea of the upcoming movie, according to the festival’s website, is about two friends from a small North Indian village who pursue a police job to gain the respect they’ve been lacking. However, as they get closer to their dream, increasing pressure puts a strain on their friendship.
Currently, Janhvi Kapoor has several forthcoming projects. One of them is “Param Sundari,” a delightful cross-cultural romantic comedy alongside Sidharth Malhotra. Another one is “Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari,” a humorous film featuring Varun Dhawan.
Are you excited to see Janhvi Kapoor’s performance in Homebound?
