The upcoming Indian film “Coolie,” directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Rajinikanth, is generating a lot of excitement. According to insiders, the production cost for “Coolie” is a staggering Rs 350 crore, which covers both Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s fees.
It’s reported that Rajinikanth received an unprecedented salary of 150 crores INR for the film “Coolie,” making it one of the highest actor salaries ever. Meanwhile, director Lokesh Kanagaraj was paid a record-breaking 50 crores INR for his work on the same project. The rest of the 150 crores were spent on producing the movie and compensating other cast members. Initially, the film’s budget was set at 350 crores INR, but sources suggest that an additional 25 crores have been allocated for advertising and distribution costs, bringing the total budget to approximately 375 crores INR.
It’s worth noting that Coolie has already earned a significant amount before its release in theaters. The film has made approximately Rs 130 crores through digital platforms, another Rs 90 crores via satellite rights, and an additional Rs 20 crores from music rights. This totals to Rs 240 crores in non-theatrical revenue, meaning only Rs 135 crores is left to be earned from its theatrical release. Given this information, Coolie seems like a relatively safe investment considering the hype surrounding it before release.
