Over the Memorial Day Weekend in 2025, attendance at Walt Disney World was surprisingly sparse. Marvin Montanaro, Editor-in-Chief of That Park Place, walked through Magic Kingdom on May 26th and was astounded by how deserted the world’s most frequented theme park had become. In contrast, Epic Universe maintained a lower capacity for the beginning of summer, presumably to facilitate a seamless transition to full operations. However, Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure were both packed with visitors.
Instead of saying: “In fact, Magic Kingdom had very few guests for Memorial Day, so we deliberately took pictures with visible shadows.”
You could say: “On Memorial Day, Magic Kingdom was almost deserted, and to avoid any confusion about the time of day, we intentionally snapped photos with clear shadows included.” This way, the message remains clear and easy to understand.
Generally, wait times for popular attractions were typically between 10-15 minutes during peak seasons. This raises questions about what the summer might look like at Walt Disney World, given that Memorial Day Weekend was relatively empty. Will visitors be satisfied when Frontierland in the Magic Kingdom is covered with construction walls, aiming to dismantle many beloved features of the park? Also, how will Disney attract families once Epic Universe is fully operational (or even expands)?

During the summer vacation period, we’ll closely monitor the crowd levels at Disney World and Universal Studios. However, the recent development isn’t encouraging for Disney, as the start of their peak season – traditionally a crucial time – is set for 2025.
