Kevin Spacey Teams Up with Dolph Lundgren in Shocking New Action Thriller!

Kevin Spacey is making strides in his attempt to return to the industry. His latest venture, quite unexpectedly, involves him directing a film tentatively titled “Holiguards”. This would be Spacey’s third directorial project, with previous ones being the 1996 movie “Albino Alligator” and the 2004 Bobby Darin biopic, “Beyond the Sea”. Interestingly, Spacey is also set to act in “Holiguards”, sharing the screen with 80s icon Dolph Lundgren.

In 1985, Lundgren made a significant mark with his portrayal of boxer Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. This groundbreaking role paved the way for a lengthy career in action movies, leading him to play characters like He-Man in Masters of the Universe, Red Scorpion, and The Punisher in 1989. More recently, Lundgren has remained busy in Hollywood, appearing in projects such as the Expendables series, Creed II where he reprised his role as Ivan Drago, and the Aquaman films.

Filmed in Mexico last year on a budget of $10 million, the movie titled “Holiguards” is currently undergoing post-production. As initially announced by Variety, this film unfolds in a world on the brink of collapse due to hidden supernatural powers. Two opposing warrior groups, the Holiguards and the Statiguards, have been covertly battling for dominance over human destiny. In this struggle, a young woman learns she is the daughter of two rival leaders and may hold the key to ending the war. Simultaneously, a strategist from the Statiguards plots a devastating attack in Paris using a nuclear weapon and an army of controlled civilians, drawing power from a cosmic gateway to awaken an ancient entity called the Prime.

Kevin Spacey’s Post-Acquittal Career

Prior to allegations of sexual misconduct that stalled his career in 2017, Kevin Spacey had a distinguished acting career. He garnered Academy Awards for his roles in “The Usual Suspects” and “American Beauty,” and gave standout performances in films such as “Glengarry Glen Ross,” “Se7en,” and “L.A. Confidential.” Notably, he starred in Netflix’s “House of Cards” from 2013 to 2017. Following his acquittal on charges in 2022, Spacey has been gradually returning to acting, appearing in various independent projects like the 2022 film “The Man Who Drew God,” the 2023 movie “Control,” the 2024 film “Peter Five Eight,” and the upcoming “The Awakening.” The latter is yet to secure a major distribution deal, although its studio attempted to do so at the Cannes Film Market.

Approximately a week past, Spacey received a lifetime achievement honor at the Cannes Film Festival. During his acceptance speech at an event gala organized by the Better World Fund, he portrayed himself as a victim of “cancel culture” and “blacklisting,” asserting that he had been cleared in every court appearance he attended (referring to his acquittals in a UK criminal case and a US civil lawsuit). However, the official organizers of the Cannes Film Festival clarified that they neither participated in nor were informed about Spacey’s invitation or the award presented at this private event.

In addition to Spacey and Lundgren, the cast of the movie “Holiguards” includes Eric Roberts (known for “The Dark Knight”), Tyrese Gibson (famous for the “Fast & Furious” series), Brianna Hildebrand (“Deadpool”), Disha Patani (“Kalki 2898 AD”), Harry Goodwins (“The Gentlemen”), Swen Temmel (“The Clean Up Crew”), and Sonia Pim Couling (“Operation Bloodhunt”). The film was written by Sergey Torchilin and Lado Okhotnikov, and produced by Elvira Gavrilova Paterson, Vadim Degtyarev, and Vitaly Kucherov. “Holiguards” is set to be the first film in a franchise, titled “Statiguards vs. Holiguards“, and a trailer was said to have been shown to potential distributors at this year’s Cannes Film Market. This movie marks the first feature produced by Elledgy Media Group, in partnership with Lado Film.
