Having a famous parent doesn’t guarantee success in filmmaking, as demonstrated by several actors, including Fardeen Khan. Despite being involved in 21 movies, Fardeen has only managed one box-office triumph. However, after a break of 13 years, he made an impactful return with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Netflix series Heeramandi and is poised to carry on his resurgence with a role in the upcoming Akshay Kumar production Housefull 5.
Fardeen Khan, son of renowned Bollywood actor Feroz Khan, initially entered the film industry under his father’s guidance, as Feroz had high expectations for his son’s acting career. However, their first joint project, Prem Aggan, did not fare well and ended up being a significant box office bomb.
Fardeen Khan about family’s financial struggles
During a chat with TopMob, Fardeen Khan reminisced about his dad’s cinematic career, noting that Feroz Khan began producing films starting with his first venture “Apradh,” released in 1972.
During that time period, producers had to shoulder all financial risks, frequently resorting to expensive loans to finance their movies. This made the whole process rather intimidating, according to Fardeen. However, despite his family encountering hardships, he was brought up in a way that kept him connected to reality, with intentional measures taken to keep him away from the allure of the industry and any feelings of privilege.
After a less-than-impressive first film appearance, Fardeen Khan continued his acting career by participating in over twenty movies, however, none of these films made a notable mark on the movie industry’s earnings.
Despite his career seemingly on a downward spiral, he found himself in Heyy Babyy, acting alongside Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Vidya Balan, Anupam Kher, and Boman Irani. Although the movie was financially successful, earning over 83 crore rupees globally and being labeled a hit, it failed to rejuvenate Fardeen’s struggling acting career.
Following a series of flops at the box office with only one significant success, Fardeen Khan opted to retreat from public view and took a 14-year break from acting. His last role prior to this hiatus was in the 2010 film “Dulha Mil Gaya,” where he shared the screen with Sushmita Sen.
Fardeen Khan on the work front
Actor Fardeen Khan will soon be back in action on the big screen as part of the ensemble cast for Housefull 5, alongside stars like Akshay Kumar, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonam Bajwa, Nagis Fakhri, Riteish Deshmukh, Jacqueline Fernandez, Soundarya Sharma, Chitrangada Singh, and others. Moreover, he’s also teaming up with actor Darshan for a Kannada film with pan-India reach.
