App Army Assemble: Chronomon – “Does mixing Stardew Valley with Pokémon yield good results?”

In simple terms, Chronomon is a blend of monster capturing and farming simulation games, with a nostalgic aesthetic. On paper, this combination seems appealing; however, executing such a diverse concept can be challenging. To test its success, we gave it to our App Army to see if they felt it achieved the intended goal.

Here’s what they said:

Chronomon combines elements of farming games, similar to Stardew Valley, with a twist of Pokémon-like creature capturing. In this game, you manage a farm while also catching creatures that offer both farming assistance and battle aid. The gameplay is smooth, enjoyable, and relaxing, enhanced by its pleasant music and graphics. If you’re into games like Stardew Valley, Chronomon should definitely be on your radar! It runs smoothly, providing an entertaining experience with every playthrough. The touch controls function well, making it a great choice for those who appreciate these types of games.

To begin, let me echo sentiments shared earlier: this game seems to be a 50/50 amalgamation of Pokémon and Stardew Valley in essence. The visuals have a 16-bit aesthetic, and the music strikes me as a fusion between Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and PlayStation tunes. I must add that the soundtrack and effects contribute significantly to giving the game a familiar vibe reminiscent of its inspirations. In

I’m just beginning to explore this game, and it seems there’s an abundance of abilities to master and items to create. The developer keeps updating the game to enhance the mobile version, which is a plus. Personally, I prefer using a controller on my tablet for a more immersive experience, as the phone screen feels too confined for my liking. If you’re fond of the games mentioned in my intro, Chronomon could be right up your alley. However, if those games didn’t appeal to you, it might not grab you either – but I must say, Chronomon is meticulously crafted and delivers a comprehensive gaming experience that I find satisfying.

Titled “Chronomon” is an engaging blend of monster-catching and farming, reminiscent of a fusion between Stardew Valley and Pokémon. In this game, you trap creatures that serve dual purposes: they aid in combat engagements and contribute to the farm’s daily operations. The farm allows for the cultivation of crops to generate income, nourish yourself, and sustain your captured monsters.

The design is reminiscent of old-school video games from the 16-bit era, particularly Japanese role-playing games. However, playing it on a phone screen feels less than ideal due to its complexity and my difficulty reading the text and using the touch controls for farming and combat. Consequently, I found myself losing interest in the game quite rapidly.

As a passionate gamer, I’ve stumbled upon an exciting blend that sparked my interest – Chronomon! It’s like a perfect fusion of Stardew Valley and Pokémon. You’re not just a mere player, but a farmer, town renovator, and trainer all rolled into one. The farming, town improvement, and battling with your unique “monsters” will keep you engaged. These monsters come in three distinct categories: Friendly, Mean, and Scared.

The game’s 16-bit graphics hark back to the golden age of gaming, while the sound and music add a delightful touch. However, I found the default control settings a bit tricky on my touchscreen device. Thankfully, there was an option to customize them, although it was a bit of a hassle as I had to adjust them every time I logged in.

While navigating through the tutorial, I encountered an issue that seemingly halted my game progress. Fortunately, there’s an active Discord channel where the developer frequently participates, and they swiftly resolved my problem efficiently. Currently, this game is available in early access on Steam, with the same status for its iOS and Android versions too.

As a devoted fan, I stumbled upon some issues with this game, including tiny text that was challenging to read. However, switching to a controller significantly improved my experience. It’s important to note that this is a small but ambitious team creating this new game. If you share the same enthusiasm, consider giving it some time to iron out the initial glitches. I’ve noticed at least three updates since I downloaded the game, demonstrating the developer’s dedication to refining the product further.

The concept behind Chronomon sounds intriguing, blending Pokémon-like gathering with farming activities similar to Stardew Valley. However, based on my experience, the gameplay seems less engaging due to difficulty reading the in-game texts and menus. Even with a zoom feature in settings, I still find it hard to navigate. Could be that the game is challenging or maybe I need new spectacles?

In this game, you manage a farm and tame various creatures to assist you in your tasks. The concept is intriguing, and it generally lives up to expectations, but the overall experience feels familiar. The graphics have a nostalgic feel, and the controls are intuitive once you learn how to switch between characters and animals. You can fight battles with your monsters during downtime from farming to keep things interesting. It’s not that the game is poor; it simply lacked unique content to make me want to come back. However, if you appreciate farming simulations combined with turn-based combat, this could be a game you’ll enjoy.
