Adult Bobby Returns: First Look at the Exciting ‘King of the Hill’ Revival!

Prepare to head back to Arlen, Texas, as “King of the Hill” makes its comeback on Hulu from August 4, 2025. Originally airing from 1997 to 2010, “King of the Hill” was a highly acclaimed adult-oriented animated series on Fox’s Animation Domination block and has continued to captivate audiences over the years. Rumors of a revival started in 2022, with the promise that the show would account for the passage of time by focusing on an older Bobby Hill revisiting his hometown and rekindling relationships with his parents, Hank and Peggy Hill.

The first official look at the upcoming King of the Hill revival, billed as Season 14, debuted with a look at the new opening for the series. The 40-second clip, which uses the classic theme music by The Refreshments, recreates the iconic opening to the original King of the Hill but also shows the passage of time. In the video (below), an older Bobby Hill is seen alongside a brief glimpse into the lives of the various King of the Hill characters since the series ended. The footage reveals Hank and Peggy moving out of and back into their house, the COVID-19 pandemic, and what has transpired to other fan-favorite characters. Hulu’s description for the series reads:

Following several years working on a propane job in Saudi Arabia to build their retirement savings, Hank and Peggy Hill come back to find Arlen, Texas transformed. They seek out old friends Dale, Boomhauer, and Bill while Bobby lives his culinary dream in Dallas and spends his twenties with former schoolmates Connie, Joseph, and Chane.

This New ‘King of the Hill’ Looks Special, I Tell You What

As a movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement! “King of the Hill” is making its grand comeback on Hulu this summer, with all ten episodes of the new season dropping on August 4, 2025. The majority of our beloved cast will be back, including the talented Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, and more. Sadly, Johnny Hardwick, who brought Dale Gribble to life, is no longer with us after his passing in 2023. However, we’ve got great news! Toby Huss, a familiar voice from the show, will be stepping into the role of Dale Gribble. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed this exciting development. Can’t wait to catch up with the Hill family again!

The quick snippets of “King of the Hill” in the trailer hint at some exciting shifts in the usual setup. For instance, it seems that the characters have aged, which could alter Hank’s relationship with his son Bobby. Moreover, we catch a glimpse of Hank’s younger brother, G.H., who is Bobby’s uncle. There’s also a possible rekindling of Nancy Gribble and John Redcorn’s affair, as hinted by a scene where they get into a car together. Lastly, Boomhauer, the show’s original bachelor, appears to have found a wife and started a family.

Hulu has indeed renewed the show “King of the Hill” for Season 15, which means more time with the Hill family and a fresh take on a classic series. Unlike other recent TV revivals that focus on characters in their later years, such as “The Conners” and “Will & Grace”, the return of “King of the Hill” stands out because animated characters don’t age. This unique approach to depicting the passage of time might resonate deeply with longtime fans and potentially attract a new wave of viewers who appreciate the show’s nostalgic charm.
