Jonathan Joss, ’King of the Hill’ Voice Actor, Dies at 59 After Shooting

59-year-old voice actor Jonathan Joss, known for his role as “King of the Hill,” passed away following a shooting incident outside his residence in Texas. The San Antonio Police Department has reportedly verified this tragic news to The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on a police statement, officers from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) were dispatched to 200 Dorsey Drive in San Antonio around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday due to a reported shooting incident. Upon their arrival, they discovered the victim lying close to the road near the scene. The officers tried to save the victim’s life until emergency medical services (EMS) arrived, but unfortunately, EMS declared the victim dead upon arrival. The statement confirms that Joss died from gunshot wounds.

56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, a suspect involved in a shooting incident, was apprehended for questioning. After the interrogation, he was formally charged with murder. Meanwhile, Joss, who is well-known as the voice actor behind John Redcorn in the animated series “King of the Hill” and Chief Ken Hotate in “Parks and Recreation,” became recognized by these roles.

It appears that Joss suffered a devastating loss on January 23, 2025, as his childhood home located in southern San Antonio and three of his dogs were destroyed by a significant fire, based on information from a GoFundMe page.

This wasn’t just an ordinary house – it was the one his father constructed for his mother back in 1957, overflowing with memories from years gone by. Unfortunately, 3 of Jonathan’s beloved pets also lost their lives in the fire, compounding the emotional turmoil of an already distressing event,” the fundraising page explains.

The SAPD added their investigation into the shooting and murder of Joss is ongoing.

More to come.
