The franchise kicked off in 1993, with Steven Spielberg bringing to life one of its source materials. For years, these prehistoric escapades have held audiences spellbound and now, the original films have found a fresh platform for streaming.
As fans eagerly anticipate the debut of “Jurassic World Rebirth“, starting June 1, 2025, Peacock is now your destination for streaming the initial six Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies. This collection spans from the classic original “Jurassic Park” featuring Sam Neill and Laura Dern, all the way to last year’s release “Jurassic World Dominion“.
The Jurassic Park movie series has achieved tremendous success and popularity, ranking among the top 11 highest-earning film franchises globally with approximately $6 billion in box office sales. Yet, the films have garnered varying opinions from critics.
Among all Jurassic Park films, the original 1993 release is widely considered the top choice due to its exceptional performance on Rotten Tomatoes. It boasts an impressive 91% rating, with both critics and viewers granting it the Certified Fresh badge. Interestingly, there seems to be a consensus between these two groups regarding the 1997 sequel, The Lost World: Jurassic Park they both give it negative reviews, with a 53% approval from critics and 52% from audiences. Jurassic Park III fares even worse, earning scores of 49% from critics and only 37% from the audience.
2015’s “Jurassic World” rekindled the public’s interest in the franchise. The film received a favorable 72% rating from critics and 78% from audiences. On the other hand, 2018’s “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” underperformed with a 47% rating from critics and 48% from viewers. Unfortunately, “Dominion” had the lowest critic score of the franchise at a dismal 29%. However, it garnered a positive 77% rating from audiences on Popcornmeter.
Can Jurassic World Rebirth Make the Franchise a Hit Again?
Based on past successes, it’s likely that Jurassic World Rebirth will leave a significant impact on viewers, as it kickstarts a potential new trilogy. The film boasts Gareth Edwards, director of Godzilla, at the helm and a script by David Koepp, a longtime franchise writer. The star-studded cast includes Scarlett Johansson, Mahershala Ali, and Jonathan Bailey. In this new installment, Johansson’s character Zora Bennett, an expert in covert operations, embarks on a clandestine mission to a lush biosphere to retrieve genetic material from three massive creatures.
For longtime fans, there’s more to anticipate as the film “Rebirth” offers something exciting. The synopsis reveals, “When Zora’s medical procedure coincides with a civilian family whose boat accident was caused by prehistoric sea-dwelling dinosaurs, they are left stranded on an island. There, they encounter a chilling, unexpected revelation that has been concealed from humanity for years.
The movie titled “Jurassic World: Renaissance” hits theatres on July 2, 2025. In the meantime, you can watch the initial six films online on Peacock.
