S.W.A.T. Stars React To Shemar Moore’s Spin-Off Series (And It’s Not All Good)

Fans of “S.W.A.T.” may be delighted as the show gets another chance through Sony Pictures Television’s new spin-off titled “S.W.A.T. Exiles.” However, it appears that some members of the original cast are experiencing a range of emotions due to Sony’s decision to produce the show without discussing it with most of the original cast first. This move has reportedly angered some individuals. Recently, some actors have expressed their opinions about the series, and at least two of them have openly shared their dissatisfaction.

Jay Harrington, who portrayed Deacon Kay starting from Season 1, expressed his disappointment with Sony’s handling of announcing the show to TVLine. “I’ve been working in this industry for a while now, but you don’t earn entitlements simply by sticking around… It’s all about finding the balance between ‘entitled’ and ‘kept informed,’ because it would have been nice if Sony had let us know their plans…” He also mentioned that he hopes the show succeeds, but was disheartened that the rest of the cast wasn’t acknowledged in Sony’s press release announcing the spin-off.

David Lim, who portrayed Victor Tan throughout all eight seasons, shared on Instagram his disappointment that Sony didn’t acknowledge the cast in the spin-off’s announcement. “If I were being honest, the way the new spinoff was unveiled was hard to take. It was particularly tough knowing it was announced just two days after our series finale without any mention of the dedicated cast who helped shape ‘S.W.A.T.’ from its inception,” his statement said, further explaining that he felt overlooked. However, while some members of the cast exhibited frustration towards Sony, Shemar Moore remains steadfast about the studio’s decision to continue filming.

Shemar Moore has defended his choice to go it alone in S.W.A.T. Exiles

When news broke about Shemar Moore’s colleagues, he made sure to personally contact each one and underscore their significant role in the brand. Additionally, he’s been open about viewing himself as the central figure in “S.W.A.T. Exiles.” Moreover, he has explained Sony’s decision to feature Hondo exclusively in the upcoming spin-off series.

Moore stated in an Instagram video: “I might not be Tom Brady in the NFL, but when it comes to ‘S.W.A.T.’, I’m their version of him. It’s not boasting; it’s a fact. I’m the quarterback on our team. The tight ends, running backs, and receivers may change, but the teams always rely on their quarterback, and I’m that constant factor. However, let me emphasize that my success wouldn’t be possible without my castmates. They are my family, my team. I admire them, respect them, and appreciate them deeply.
