Disney is broadening its content agreement with Bell Media in Canada, introducing a fresh streaming package comprising Disney+, Crave, and TSN, set to launch by the end of the year.
The fresh Canadian package is based on an influential agreement struck between telecom titan, Charter Communications, and Disney. This partnership allows users of the Spectrum Select TV service to enjoy Disney+ at no extra charge.
The specifics regarding cost and release date for Bell Media subscribers’ new Canadian packages are still undisclosed, however, it’s been confirmed that they will feature exclusive series and content from HBO and Max, Crave (Canada’s streaming platform), Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and TSN, the Canadian sports network.
The partnership between Disney and Bell Media in Canada reflects a growing industry pattern, as streaming platforms merge and are offered to subscribers at reduced costs due to ongoing cable subscription cuts. Meanwhile, Bell Media aims to counteract decreasing traditional TV viewership in Canada by expanding their presence in the streaming market.
Shawn Praskey, vice president of content sales and distribution in Canada, expressed enthusiasm about broadening our existing partnership with Bell Media. These new features will make Disney+ more readily available for Canadians nationwide.
Earlier this year, Bell introduced a fresh Crave subscription plan that incorporates TSN sports content. The cost begins at CAN$21.99 (approximately US$16.10) per month. Meanwhile, Disney+ can now be accessed in Canada from as low as CAN $8.99 (around US$6.60) a month.
By subscribing to the Disney+, Crave, TSN package, viewers can gain entry to exclusive shows such as HBO’s “The Last of Us,” “The White Lotus,” “And Just Like That” from Max, “Hacks,” and Disney+’s “Only Murders in the Building,” along with Lucasfilm’s “Andor.” In the future, you’ll also find HBO’s “A Night of the Seven Kingdoms,” the spinoff of “Game of Thrones,” and season 3 of “Euphoria” among the offerings.
