Aamir Khan shuts down ‘comeback’ tag for Sitaare Zameen Par and his take might surprise you: ‘Lot of actors have 8 to 10 flops…’

The highly anticipated Bollywood movie, Sitaare Zameen Par starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, is preparing for its release to theaters. While this film marks Aamir’s return to acting following Laal Singh Chaddha, the actor has politely declined the label of a “comeback.” He also spoke about the experience in a subtle manner.

During an interview with News 18, Aamir Khan expressed that he doesn’t view Sitaare Zameen Par as his “comeback” movie since his films are typically released every three years.

Additionally, he pointed out, “Many performers experience as many as eight to ten failures in their careers, yet we don’t label those instances as comebacks, do we? Given that I’ve only had one failure, and you’re referring to this as a comeback, it seems I haven’t left the scene at all.

In that very same interview, Aamir revealed that the script for Sitaare Zameen Par left him profoundly touched, reminding him of the essence of Taare Zameen Par from 2007. Unlike his previous film, which centered on a child with a learning disability and emphasized the importance of inclusivity, this new tale delves deeper by shedding light on the lives of children with intellectual disabilities like autism and Down syndrome.

In a recent interview, the actor expressed that the heart-touching transformation in the storyline is what truly makes this movie special. Unlike his previous work where the coach was the guiding force, here it’s the courageous neurodivergent children who take on that role, reversing the usual dynamic. For him, this change only added to the film’s impact and significance.

Aamir Khan also disclosed that the narrative resonated deeply with him, seeming as a fitting spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par. This profound association served as the motivation behind the title of the movie, Sitaare Zameen Par.

For those unfamiliar, Sitaare Zameen Par (Stars on Earth) is a spiritual follow-up to the 2007 film Taare Zameen Par (Stars of My Soil), directed by R.S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan, Aparna Purohit, and Ravi Bhagchandka. Alongside Aamir, Genelia Deshmukh also stars in this sports-themed comedy.

On June 20, 2025, Sitaare Zameen Par will debut a new group of talented actors such as Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar. The script has been penned by Divy Nidhi Sharma.
