Does How To Train Your Dragon have a post-credits scene?

Skipping ahead to the main point: Does How To Train Your Dragon have additional scenes after the credits? No, it does not. However, don’t leave your seat right away when the movie ends. The credits are worth watching too, as they are stylishly designed to mimic the pages of the Book of Dragons and conclude with a reference to a key moment in the storyline.

The thrill doesn’t end here: All parts are accompanied by a fresh tune titled “You Are My Homeward,” composed by John Powell, who was recently nominated for an Academy Award for his work on the movie version of Wicked.

As the credits rolled, I found myself gazing once more at the rough sketch of Toothless that Hiccup had drawn earlier in the film. By the way, remember that drawing?

How To Train Your Dragon Credits and Book of Dragons Explained

In the credits, The Book of Dragons is depicted as a comprehensive guide that encompasses every known terrifying dragon species discovered by the Vikings of Berk, not just on their home island, but also those encountered in their explorations beyond it.

Gobber the Belch, the Viking instructor with a penchant for burping, encouraged his students at the dragon school to delve into the book to grasp the art of battling and taming dragons. However, it seems that Hiccup’s friend Fishlegs and Astrid (Nico Parker) have already immersed themselves in its pages. Fishlegs has mastered a plethora of dragon techniques, such as dive-bombing, camouflage, and the different types of blinding flames they emit.

As a gamer immersed in the world of How to Train Your Dragon, I was devastated to discover that my Night Fury companion, Toothless, had vanished. In my quest for answers, I sought guidance from Gobber and the Book of Dragons after inadvertently wounding him during our first encounter. Upon my return, I found Toothless injured, but the scene that unfolded – depicted in the drawing at the end of the credits – marked a pivotal shift from fear to friendship as we forged an unbreakable bond.

The crucial event transpired following a nocturnal assault by dragons on Berk, when Hiccup, having just crafted his “mangler”, inadvertently fired it at Toothless, a wild dragon, instead of one attempting to harm the Vikings. Later, Hiccup found Toothless injured in the woods, unable to fly due to a tail wound. Before approaching him, Hiccup first drew Toothless, initially depicting a complete tail before recognizing the severity of the injuries and removing the affected portion from his sketch. Although Hiccup would eventually build a replacement tail for Toothless, this incident marked the start of their friendship, and as we now know, that’s simply a small part of their Viking chronicles.
