As “And Just Like That…” makes its comeback on HBO Max, it seems fitting that Kim Cattrall also reprises her role in the world of “Sex and The City.
Right now, the “Revival Series” is being broadcast, featuring Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis returning to their iconic roles from the late ’90s and early 2000s that propelled them to fame as a group.
Except for a brief appearance in the final episode of season two, Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie), Cynthia Nixon (Miranda), and Kristin Davis (Charlotte) have not been joined by Kim Cattrall (Samantha) on the streets of New York in the latest series, and she has explicitly stated that she will not be part of the third installment. Controversies about a long-standing rift between Parker and Cattrall have dominated Sex and The City news for many years, dating back to the 2008 and 2010 films.
In a recent conversation with The Times from the U.K., Cattrall shared some insights into her bond with the beloved character, Samantha Jones, who was known for her open-minded sexual attitudes.
Let’s see more of that!” she shared with the newspaper.
The British-Canadian-American actress went on to clarify: “[Samantha] wasn’t labeled as a nymphomaniac, although some might have perceived her that way. Instead, she was relishing the main course, while others were merely sampling appetizers when she opted for the steak.
“And it was always on her terms — that I always insisted on.”
Although she delivered an outstanding performance, Cattrall, who has been with BBC audio engineer Russell Thomas since 2016, noted that she is quite different from her character in reality. “I’m quite the opposite of her in many aspects,” she said. “I’m a dedicated monogamist and more.”

Over six seasons spanning 1998-2004, the series portrayed the women navigating complex romantic entanglements, intimacy issues, and career setbacks, all while deepening their bonds of friendship. The show’s enduring appeal has grown further since its availability on streaming platforms like Netflix, allowing it to share the essence of ’90s New York City glamour with a new generation, Gen Z viewers.
Cattrall discussed with The Times about the upcoming season 2 of the show Central Intelligence, where she plays a role alongside Ed Harris and Johnny Flynn, this being a re-telling of the creation of the CIA.
New episodes of And Just Like That… are dropping weekly on HBO Max and on Sky in the U.K.
