Mark Ruffalo, Jimmy Kimmel, Gracie Abrams, Kerry Washington and More Stars Participating in “No Kings” Protests

Hollywood is out participating in the “No Kings” protests.

Nationwide protests are taking place, even in key urban centers such as Los Angeles and New York City, targeting President Donald Trump and his administration’s policies. These demonstrations come mere hours before the military parade commemorating the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army, which is set to take place in Washington D.C. on Saturday – a day that also marks Trump’s birthday.

As a passionate advocate, I myself joined the rain-soaked crowd in New York City during a protest, where MSNBC interviewed me. When asked why we were there in such unfavorable weather, I expressed my sincere feelings: “We’re here because we recognize that our democracy is truly at stake.

It appears we have a leader who has transformed into a monarch and autocrat, and there seems to be no opposition force potent enough to resist the daily violation of our rights and the Constitution. This is evident in executive orders, disregard for court orders, and the detention of immigrants, some of whom are here legally and have their children taken away from them. Mark Ruffalo expresses our collective revulsion and fear. The only solution we see to combat this situation is for the people to unite.

Jimmy Kimmel participated in a protest in San Francisco along with his parents. He shared on Instagram, “A tremendous, motivating, and undeniably peaceful gathering took place in the South Bay. I encountered numerous individuals who cherish this nation and view it as a beacon of good. I’m thankful to witness so many Americans actively standing up for their friends and neighbors, particularly my parents.” He continued, “I recognize how fortunate I am to have been born into a family that instilled in me the importance of caring about others. The most powerful words ever spoken are ‘Love one another.’ It truly is as straightforward as that.

Moby posted a video on Instagram showing him participating in a demonstration, accompanied by this message: “No monarchs! It’s crucial to take every possible action to safeguard democracy: demonstrate, donate, share posts, run for public office, vote, and organize. Furthermore, now is definitely not the moment for any internal squabbles.

Actress Ayo Edebiri, known for her role in The Bear, posted a snapshot on her Instagram Story featuring a sign that conveyed the message: “I care for you and support you! Keep being courageous!

Singer Gracie Abrams also posted on her Instagram Stories, displaying two photos amidst a crowd, one stating “Free speech isn’t an insurrection” and another quoting Desmond Tutu: “If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you are aligned with the oppressor.

Actress Gina Rodriguez-LoCicero, best known for her role on “Jane the Virgin,” posted a video from a protest on her Instagram Story with the caption: “When in Woodstock, even small towns should make their voices heard! #NoKingsDay The original activists are here!

Actress Mary Elizabeth Ellis from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia shared a series of videos on Instagram, expressing her feelings after participating in a peaceful protest against the current government in the streets of Los Angeles. She captioned it as “#LA always stands up for what’s right.

Glenn Close, along with Anna Kendrick from “Another Simple Favor,” Tessa Thompson of “Creed,” and Amy Lee, the vocalist from Evanescence, each shared videos on their respective Instagram Stories during the protests.

Kathy Griffin shared an image on Instagram, featuring Morgan Fairchild participating in a demonstration. Accompanying the post was her comment, “Indeed, that’s our woman.

The military parade begins at 6:30 p.m. ET.
