R&B artist R. Kelly has been placed in isolation again at a North Carolina prison following a hospitalization due to an apparent drug overdose, as stated by his lawyer’s filing. The lawyer maintains that the local Prison Board is involved in a conspiracy to orchestrate Kelly’s murder through a hitman.
On Tuesday, legal records revealed that Robert Sylvester Kelly, known as Kelly, was transported to Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, due to an overdose of his medication administered by officials at the Federal Correctional Institute in Butner, North Carolina, where he is currently incarcerated.
Beau Brindley, the attorney for Mr. Kelly, stated that this court’s assistance is crucial as Mr. Kelly’s very life hangs in the balance.
As per the documentation, a man aged 58, identified as Kelly, awoke on June 13 with dark spots in his field of vision. Trying to rise, he instead fell to the floor. The filing further indicates that he crawled towards the door of his cell and passed out. The document alleges that prison personnel had administered an excessive amount of medication to him on June 12. Subsequently, medical professionals at the prison were unable to help him, leading to his transfer to Duke University Hospital.
As a dedicated fan, I’d rephrase it like this: For two days, I, being the supporter, was anxiously waiting for updates on Kelly’s condition, as he was scheduled for surgery due to blood clots. His lawyer shared that this procedure would keep him hospitalized for approximately two weeks. However, upon sharing this news with FCI Butner officials, a startling turn of events unfolded: within the span of an hour, armed officers barged into Kelly’s hospital room and took him away.
Prior to the overdose incident, Kelly had been confined to solitary confinement following a week’s notice from his lawyers, who brought to the court’s attention an alleged plan to take his life. The allegation, presented in an emergency motion, implicated three officials from the Bureau of Prisons, suggesting they were orchestrating a murder-for-hire scheme that would see Kelly killed by another inmate. The motion requested a transfer to home detention, but this request had previously been denied. Michael Glenn Stine, the individual accused of being hired to carry out the killing, reportedly told Kelly that his life was under immediate threat, according to court documents.
In a statement, Brindley explained that federal officials are being accused of wanting to kill R. Kelly due to his plans to reveal the corrupt basis of his ongoing federal investigations. A motion has been submitted to ensure their efforts do not succeed.
The Bureau of Prisons remains silent on the issue, referring to ongoing court cases as the reason. When The Hollywood Reporter contacted Brindley for further clarification on his submission, they didn’t receive a prompt response on Tuesday.
