Derek Dixon, a performer on the shows The Oval and Ruthless, has filed a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, accusing him of sexual harassment and assault. The claim is that Perry forcefully pressed Dixon up against a wall and inappropriately touched him.
According to Dixon’s statement, Perry allegedly made unwanted sexual advances towards him since he started playing the character “Dale” on The Oval in 2021. This includes an instance where Perry is said to have forcefully removed Dixon’s clothes during a attempted assault. Dixon accuses Perry of exploiting male actors in his productions, using his Hollywood power to make unwanted advances on staff members within his circle. The lawsuit filed on Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court claims that for years, Perry has been using his power and influence to molest, abuse, and sexually assault vulnerable employees and actors who look up to him for guidance and career opportunities.
Matthew Boyd, representing Perry, described Dixon as an “individual who seemingly used their proximity to Tyler Perry for the purpose of orchestrating a fraudulent scheme.” He went on to say that “Tyler Perry won’t be intimidated and we are certain that these unfounded accusations of harassment will not stand.
The legal action involves allegations of sexual harassment, battery, and assault, as well as other offenses related to inappropriate behavior in the workplace. Dixon is seeking a minimum compensation of $260 million.
