As a devoted admirer, I’m deeply saddened to share that Anne Burrell, our beloved culinary star on Food Network and the esteemed host of “Worst Cooks in America,” passed away at her New York residence this Tuesday morning. She was just 55 years old.
People adored Anne because she was a cherished spouse, sibling, daughter, stepmother, and companion. Her smile made every place she went feel brighter. Not only did Anne’s glow affect those around her, but it also reached countless others worldwide. Even though she is gone, the warmth, vitality, and endless affection she embodied live on forever.
1996 saw Burrell completing her culinary education at the Culinary Institute of America. Afterward, she pursued further studies at the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners in Asti, Italy. Subsequently, she spent time working as a chef in Italy. Upon her return to the United States, she took up the position of sous chef at Felidia, a renowned restaurant helmed by celebrity chef Lidia Bastianich.
In the year 2005, Burrell first appeared on television through the show “The Next Iron Chef”. Following this, she became a regular face on Food Network programs, starting with her role as host in 2008’s “Secrets of a Restaurant Chef”, which continued until 2012.
The show Worst Cooks in America first aired in 2010, with her co-hosting it alongside Beau MacMillan. For an impressive 27 seasons, Burrell played a significant role, cementing herself as a well-known Food Network figure.
She also featured in various shows on the network such as Chopped, Celebrity Food Fight, Cutthroat Kitchen, Cooks vs. Cons, Food Network Star, The Kitchen, a challenge against Bobby Flay titled Beat Bobby Flay, Wildcard Kitchen, and House of Knives.
Among those who carry on are her spouse, Stuart Claxton, tied in matrimony since October 2021; her daughters, Isabella, Amelia, and Nicolas; her stepson, Javier; her mother, Marlene; and her siblings, Jane and Ben.
