According to confirmation from the BBC, Kate Phillips will replace Charlotte Moore in her role as the head of content.
I’m thrilled to share that come soon, I’ll be stepping into the shoes of Moore, having gone through a fierce competition in the recruiting process, as was announced by our boss, Tim Davie, yesterday.
Davie praised Kate’s dedication to providing exceptional content for all viewers, stating, ‘Kate’s love for delivering top-notch content is evident in everything she touches.’ With over a decade of experience at the BBC, she has consistently shown innovation, remarkable creativity, and a strong commitment to our audience.
He also mentioned that she boasts an exceptional track record of producing innovative successes, each embodying the pinnacle of BBC’s quality.
Initially seen as the most likely candidate, Phillips took on the temporary role of Chief Creative Officer following Moore’s announcement in the year that she would be leaving the BBC to join Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television instead.
Phillips has been employed by the BBC for more than a dozen years; her most recent role being the Director of Unscripted. In this position, she was responsible for greenlighting some of the network’s top-rated programs such as “Strictly Come Dancing” and “The Traitors.
Apart from being the final Manager of BBC One, she had previously served as the Entertainment Controller. In this role, she was responsible for formulating the entertainment plan that spanned BBC television and iPlayer. Under her leadership, over 500 hours of unique content were commissioned annually.
Apart from her notable TV career, she has served as a creative director for format development at BBC Worldwide too. Phillips expressed: “Over the last several months, I’ve found immense pleasure diving deeper into the vast array of exceptional content we create across the U.K., and naturally, it’s been delightful meeting so many fresh faces.
She determined: “This is among the top-notch positions within the industry at a fantastic company, and I’m eagerly looking forward to beginning.
