Willie Nelson can’t do what he is famous for anymore (but he hasn’t given up)

Legendary singer-songwriter Willie Nelson has been a musical powerhouse since time immemorial, and at 92 years old, he continues to captivate audiences with his energetic performances.

Apart from his well-known accomplishments, he’s also recognized for advocating for marijuana use. In fact, he played a significant role in promoting its legalization, even though it remains prohibited in various regions, such as the state where he was born, Texas, which also maintains cannabis illegality.

The musician no longer smokes cannabis due to health reasons; however, this does not necessarily imply that he has changed his views towards its use. Nowadays, he can’t smoke anything, be it marijuana or otherwise, because of his lung condition. It’s important to note that this doesn’t mean Nelson has stopped using cannabis altogether.

Willie Nelson gives up smoking, but doesn’t totally give up marijuana

In a recent interview with Forbes, it was mentioned that instead of smoking, the singer is opting for edibles. Moreover, he owns a thriving business line of THC-laced beverages, among which his newest creation is called Willie’s Remedy.

To put it simply, Nelson continues to use marijuana; he’s merely stopped smoking. Given his career in music, playing gigs, this approach seems more suitable for him.

As a gamer, I’ve just added the latest album to my collection – “Oh What a Beautiful World”, released on April 25th. This is Willie Nelson’s incredible 77th studio album, a number that might seem impressive, but remember, he’s been creating music since 1962. Over six decades, releasing 77 albums isn’t an extraordinary feat in the world of gaming, or in Willie’s case, country music.

In Nelson’s most recent album, you’ll find twelve tracks penned by the esteemed country artist Rodney Crowell. Notably, Crowell also lent his harmonious vocals to the record’s main track. Critics have generally praised this album, making it a great time to revisit Nelson if it’s been a while. If you’re interested in diving back into Nelson’s work, his 2025 album would be an excellent starting point and a chance to explore his older releases as well.

Regarding marijuana, Nelson stated that it helped him maintain his sanity. He once expressed in an interview with Rolling Stone, “I wouldn’t be here without it. It truly saved my life. I wouldn’t have survived… I believe that marijuana prevented me from wanting to harm others. And likely kept many people from wanting to harm me as well.

It appears that something must have been contributing to Nelson’s longevity and prosperous lifestyle at 92 years old. Perhaps he has discovered some secret or formula for living well. Of course, it’s not necessarily marijuana that is the key factor, but there seems to be a certain secret behind his success. It might be interesting for Nelson to write a book sharing his insights on how to lead a fulfilling life.
