Bad Bunny Slams ICE Over Raids in Puerto Rico: “Those Motherf***ers”

Bad Bunny is criticizing ICE officers for carrying out arrests in Puerto Rico.

The Grammy-winning artist, known as Bad Bunny, recently posted a video (which was later removed due to Instagram Stories vanishing after 24 hours) on his story, depicting an ICE operation on Avenida Pontezuela in Carolina.

In simpler terms, Bad Bunny is heard saying (in Spanish) that some individuals are in RAV-4 vehicles, specifically in Pontezuela. He expresses frustration towards them for not leaving people alone and not focusing on their work instead.

Ever since President Donald Trump’s recent reentry to the White House, his administration has made it a top priority to enforce alleged immigration rule breaches more rigorously. According to reports from The New York Times, over 500 individuals have been apprehended by federal authorities in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory. It’s worth noting that nearly three-quarters of those detained are from the Dominican Republic.

Nationwide demonstrations have arisen, encompassing cities like New York and Los Angeles, in opposition to illegal ICE raids considered unlawful. In reaction to the protests in L.A., President Trump dispatched California’s National Guard to suppress these demonstrations. However, Governor Gavin Newsom of California countered by officially asking the Trump Administration to withdraw their unlawful deployment of troops in Los Angeles County and return them under his control. The situation is being addressed by the courts, with a federal appeals court momentarily halting a lower court’s decision that instructed Trump to retransfer command of National Guard soldiers back to the state. During a Tuesday hearing, it was reported by the Times that the federal appeals court seems likely to support Trump, although no final ruling has been made yet on this matter.

Shakira has also expressed concerns over the ongoing anxiety that immigrants experience in the current U.S., due to Trump’s tough immigration policies.

To BBC News, the Colombian singer expressed, ‘It’s heartbreaking to witness.’ Now, it’s crucial that we stay united and vocal, she emphasized. Moreover, it is essential to convey loudly and clearly that while a nation can alter its immigration policies, the treatment of every individual should always be compassionate.
