SALVABLE will be available On Demand from 14th July.
VERTICAL is thrilled to share that their gripping British boxing drama, titled REDEEMABLE, will be accessible for on-demand viewing starting from 14th July.
The movie boasts an impressive ensemble with BAFTA Nominee Toby Kebbell (known for “RocknRolla” and “Fantastic Four”), Shia LaBeouf (“Honey Boy” and “The Peanut Butter Falcon”) and James Cosmo (“Game of Thrones” and “Braveheart”). The film has garnered positive feedback from critics, with MovieWeb describing it as a “raw, everyday boxing story”.
In my perspective, SALVABLE is a deeply moving narrative about an individual grappling with his past while yearning for a future that seems elusive. At its core, it delves into the raw essence of fatherhood, regret, and the relentless pursuit of redemption.
As a passionate cinephile, I used to admire “The Bull” (Kebbell), a talent on the verge of stardom. However, at almost 40 years old, he’s become worn down, just another familiar face in the tranquil, seemingly endless town of Still. He struggles by working part-time as a caregiver. Life has whittled him down to a mere echo of his former self, existing in the shadow of squandered opportunities and unmade choices.
When Sal ultimately chooses to take on the role of father for his long-estranged daughter, Molly – a girl who’s quick-witted and rebellious, someone he barely knows – he encounters the stark truth of their strained bond and the mounting concern that she might be following in his footsteps towards trouble. Their connection is tenuous at most, but it becomes the only thing tethering him to the prospect of a brighter future.
The arrival of Vince (LaBeouf), an old acquaintance from the past, sets off a series of changes for Sal. Vince presents him with an opportunity to break free from his mundane existence, leading him into a realm of criminal activities and risky pledges. For the first time in years, Sal experiences a glimmer of the spirit he used to possess. However, this comes at a price. As Sal delves deeper, he finds himself struggling between saving his relationship with Molly and getting pulled further into the turbulent, disorderly world that Vince inhabits. The closer he gets to freedom, the more everything begins to crumble around him. In the end, the walls start closing in, and Sal must contemplate whether salvation is worth the cost.
In my critique, I mustn’t overlook the impressive ensemble of actors gracing the screen alongside me. Michael Socha, famously known for his role in “This Is England,” delivers a captivating performance. Similarly, Barry Ward, recognized from “Bad Sisters,” brings his charm to the production. Not to be outshone, Nell Hudson, who has enchanted viewers on “Outlander,” also makes a significant impact. Lastly, Aiysha Hart, who recently graced our screens in “Mogul Mowgli,” adds depth and intrigue to the storyline. This supporting cast is truly a sight to behold!
Eagerly anticipating the premiere, the film production teams at Lowkey Films & Featuristic Group expressed their enthusiasm: “Salvable was filmed in Wales, scored in Ireland, and edited in England, so we take great pride in being a British film. We’re thrilled to have Vertical Entertainment handling the release here at home. With their dedication and skill in ensuring wide distribution, we believe that viewers throughout the United Kingdom will have the chance to immerse themselves deeply in the same intricate array of characters on screen that captivated us since our initial reading of the script.
