Hilary Rosen Appointed Deputy Chair of BAFTA’s Board of Trustees

Hilary Rosen has been appointed BAFTA‘s deputy chair of its board of trustees.

Together with BAFTA chair Sara Putt, Rosen will assist in ensuring that the British Academy’s mission as a charitable organization for the arts is executed effectively. This involves advocating for and supporting artists and professionals in the fields of film, video games, and television.

Rosen, along with BAFTA chair Sara Putt, will work together to carry out the British Academy’s mission as a charity for the arts, by promoting and helping creative professionals in movies, video games, and TV shows.

The position of deputy chair at BAFTA is chosen by representatives from their sector committees and the board, and they will take over as chair in the autumn of 2026, following the current chair’s term.

Rosen expressed his gratitude for being chosen as deputy chair of BAFTA. He considers it a remarkable organization and is thrilled about collaborating with Sara over the upcoming year. He eagerly anticipates working hand-in-hand with the various sector committees in film, games, and television, as well as the senior management team.

Over time, as my responsibilities at BAFTA expanded, I’ve acquired valuable knowledge about this community and the hurdles it encounters. I am committed to making the most of my tenure as deputy chair by utilizing this newfound understanding to create a meaningful impact.

At present, Rosen serves as the director of commissioning at UKTV and heads a group of commissioners. This team is responsible for managing an expanding collection of original scripted and unscripted content, including the latest drama series such as “Outrageous,” “Bergerac,” and “I, Jack Wright.

She served as the initial commissioner for Dave’s BAFTA-winning “Taskmaster” show. Under Rosen’s guidance, UKTV was the pioneering broadcaster to receive BAFTA Albert certification for all its commissions, aiming to minimize a production’s carbon impact. Furthermore, UKTV was also the first to pledge to cover access costs in every production.

She kicked off her professional journey in television at BBC News & Current Affairs, serving as a researcher for the show “Panorama.” Later, she transitioned to work within the independent production industry. In 2021, Rosen was inducted onto the BAFTA Television Committee and has served as its chair for the past two years. Additionally, she assumed the role of a Board Trustee.
