Cyberpunk 2077 initially released amidst high expectations, only to be met with criticism for its buggy state. However, it managed to improve significantly and is now recognized as a decent single-player RPG. Even though the game has been out for nearly five years, this author hasn’t felt compelled to play it. Personally, I’ve always found the first-person perspective used for customizing V somewhat unappealing, and the overall gameplay didn’t seem captivating enough for me.
Upon watching Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, I’ve found myself rethinking my initial decision to avoid playing the game. This captivating anime has showcased an intriguing world that I couldn’t help but admire, despite its art style being quite distinct from the game. Critics and fans alike have lauded the Phantom Liberty expansion for its exceptional writing and the compelling performance of Idris Elba within it.
The idea that Cyberpunk 2077 is available in a compact cartridge for the hypothetical Switch 2 really appeals to me. It’s quite remarkable what CD Projekt Red has accomplished, and the novelty of playing it on the Switch 2 makes me eager to give this game a try. Although it’s a minor factor, the prospect of experiencing Cyberpunk 2077 on Switch 2 might be what finally persuades me to dive into the game.
It seems that I won’t be able to play this version for a while as I don’t own the Switch 2 yet, and it doesn’t seem essential to get one at the moment. Although the big screen and enhanced power are appealing, the improved brightness and longer battery life of the Switch OLED meet my needs satisfactorily for now.
Even I find it hard to argue against the fact that a game like Cyberpunk 2077 on a more powerful Nintendo system is quite impressive. The idea that they’ve managed to cram a game-sized as the current generation (PS5) into such a compact cartridge is truly enticing. It’s amazing to think about how the geniuses at CD Projekt Red have been able to fit it all in something so small. To imagine playing this intriguing neon world of this legendary franchise on a Nintendo system just sounds really exciting.
Practically speaking, I’m capable of playing this game on Valve’s Steam Deck right now. Given its impressive power and occasional price reductions during sales, it’s more cost-effective. Yet, it might simply be another powerful PC handheld game, while it could represent a groundbreaking leap for Switch 2. This comparison may seem peculiar since they are just gaming devices, but the launch of an M-rated open-world RPG on a Nintendo platform still feels extraordinary.
Perhaps I might opt for purchasing “Cyberpunk 2077” on another platform due to its convenience. However, it was the prospect of the game being available on Nintendo’s Switch 2 that initially piqued my interest. Even though the game has been around for a while, learning that it would be playable on a Nintendo system still feels quite extraordinary to me.
