As a movie critic, I can confidently say that “Tracker,” which has garnered remarkable ratings in its second season, was undeniably poised for renewal, and it’s thrilling news that CBS has greenlit a third season! The upcoming episodes are slated for this autumn within the 2025 TV lineup, with filming set to commence shortly. Led by Justin Hartley, this gripping drama has been a rollercoaster of unexpected twists and turns so far, and it appears that the intrigue is only intensifying. The recent finale dropped tantalizing hints about the night Colter’s father met his untimely demise, and Hartley himself has hinted at an unexplored aspect of the Shaw family’s past that promises to further unravel the mystery.
In the final episode of Season 2, Colter uncovered the shocking truth that it was his own mother who had arranged for a man to make his father fall off a cliff. This revelation was significant not just due to his mother’s actions but also because Colter had been seeking additional information, as he previously thought his brother was to blame. Thankfully, viewers will gain further insights into the reasons behind this twist when Tracker resumes, as Hartley shared with Variety.
It’s clear we need to delve deeper into the reasons behind my mother employing this individual. Was it to shield us from potential harm, or was there a secret affair involved? Could the government have been part of it? Or was it solely about my mother? Why did she keep this hidden for so long? Why did she make me believe that it was my brother who was implicated when in fact he wasn’t? It appears as though she’s trying to pit us against each other, which is strange behavior towards her children. There seems to be a troubling mental state underlying this action. Let’s explore and understand more about it.
Many questions arise after the Season 2 finale, with much to dissect as the series delves deeper into the Shaw patriarch’s demise. I can’t wait to see how these plot threads will be neatly tied up. With Russell (Jensen Ackles) and Dory (Michael Roxburgh), Colter’s siblings, likely to react in unpredictable ways, it promises to be an exciting ride. This show certainly leaves us on the edge of our seats, and Justin Hartley hits the nail on the head when he explains why that aspect appeals to him: a gripping narrative that keeps viewers in suspense.
One aspect I adore about our program is that for every question we address, it feels like four additional ones emerge. It’s as if he’s delving further and further into a subject. I find this intriguing and engaging aspect of our show quite delightful.
On occasion, Tracker delves into Colter’s father’s past and the circumstances surrounding him, a topic that has become increasingly prominent due to discussions among the main character and his siblings. Although I yearn for clarification, I find the show’s mysterious quality quite captivating. It seems unlikely that all the answers will be revealed at once, with possible revelations occurring throughout the season. My guess is that by the end of the series, Colter’s perception of his family might evolve. He may even develop new questions about his upbringing.

From a movie enthusiast’s perspective, I can’t wait to uncover more about the third season of ‘Tracker’, especially regarding the Shaw family history. However, it remains uncertain whether Jensen Ackles and Bruce Roxburgh will return to reprise their roles. Regardless, the idea of a Shaw sibling reunion is something I eagerly anticipate. It’s been fascinating watching each character individually so far, but it would be thrilling to see them all together as they confront their shared past, hopefully for the first time on screen altogether.
The release date for Season 3 of “Tracker” is still unknown, but I can’t wait to find out! In the meantime, I’ll be keeping a close eye on updates about the Shaw family. Currently, you can stream the first two seasons by subscribing to Paramount+.
