A Bones Reunion Is Happening On SEAL Team: ‘It Was Just So Great To Be Working Together Again’

I am a fan, and I think that this casting marks a Bones reunion for David Boreanaz, and it’d be cool to see another before the series ends. Of course, the chances of that may be slim, since there are only a handful of episodes left. So, barring any major surprises, I’m not sure we’ll see Emily Deschanel pop in at some point. Nevertheless, let’s just relish the fact that Boreanaz and Beau Knapp have had an opportunity to work together again.

Spoilers ahead for Season 7, Episode 5 of SEAL Team, “A Perfect Storm.” Continue with caution!

It appears that the masterminds behind the last season of SEAL Team are really going all out. The Paramount+ military series (which has been doing exceptionally well on streaming platforms) is ramping up the tension as it approaches its conclusion. This is particularly evident for Bravo, as the recent twist about several SEALs dealing with undisclosed illnesses has added an extra layer of intrigue. Additionally, Bravo now has a new team member joining them. Interestingly enough, this actor’s addition to the cast marks a reunion for the show Bones.

In 2013, Beau Knapp appeared as a guest star in the final episode of Season 8 of Bones. He worked alongside David Boreanaz, who also directed the episode. Now, both actors are teaming up again, as Knapp has joined SEAL Team as Drew Franklin, a character who’s been keeping his past hidden. Knapp reminisced about working on the popular Fox show 11 years ago and shared that auditioning for the military series stirred up many memories from back then.

2013 marks a time when things were particularly lively. At that point in 2013, I was 21 years old, a new parent, and an ambitious actor seeking my break. My first significant role was in the J.J. Abrams movie Super 8, followed closely by Bones, where I read for the director, David Boreanaz, during a finale episode, much like how I faced off with him on SEAL Team when auditioning.

While Beau Knapp did only appear on the one episode of Bones, it sounds like that small role meant a lot to him, because he landed it when he was still trying to break into the industry. I imagine it must be surreal for him to have been directed by David Boreanaz early on in his career and get to work with him again years later on a different show (and in a more prominent role). Based on his comments, Knapp is as grateful as ever:

It sounds like you’re excitedly sharing your thoughts about an amazing shared experience involving SEAL Team, David, and yourself! It seems like you’ve just returned to the scene after a long hiatus of 10-12 years, and it feels great to be back working together again. But yeah, even then, it seems like you were playing the villain role. It’s so fun. I think that was the first experience I had with TV, and how different it felt from making films. It’s really crazy to see. I look like a baby shooting bones compared to now. Just super grateful.

The given method is used for displaying text with HTML tags in an easy-to-read format. The Death Wish alum’s character has been an interesting addition to SEAL Team, as Bravo has had a hard time getting used to Drew. As mentioned, Drew hasn’t been one to open up while simultaneously keeping an eye on Bravo-1 since Jason has not been doing so hot in the field.

In a simplified and intuitive language, the latest episode titled “A Perfect Storm” can be streamed with a Paramount+ subscription. It is also revealed that the team was previously on Echo when the team was ambushed in J-bad years ago as he was back at base. This suggests his closed-off nature, and you now have to wonder if he might discuss his past more moving forward.

New episodes of SEAL Team drop on Sundays on Paramount+ amid the 2024 TV schedule. It won’t be too much longer before fans are forced to say goodbye to Bravo and see their stories come to an end. So be sure that you’re checking out these final episodes and relishing the time we have left with this show.
