A. Lange & Söhne Readies the Datograph Handwerkskunst at Geneva Watch Days

As a seasoned gamer of both virtual and physical worlds, I must admit that my heart skipped a beat upon laying eyes on the A. Lange & Söhne Datograph Handwerkskunst. With its rich history, exquisite craftsmanship, and limited availability, this timepiece is like finding a rare, legendary in-game artifact after years of questing.

Following the presentation of two fresh Datograph models at Watches & Wonders Geneva in April, A. Lange & Söhne has recently revealed the Datograph Handwerkskunst, a unique, limited-edition watch in celebration of Geneva Watch Days.

For special and exclusive timepieces bearing the Handwerkskunst name, which is rarely used in the brand’s history, this newest iteration of A. Lange & Söhne’s initial chronograph – the Datograph Handwerkskunst – showcases an intricate dial with detailed tremblage engraving. Made from 750 gold, the primary dial exhibits a black-rhodium finish, while its subsidiary dials are light gray.

Each detail on the dials is intricately carved by skilled craftsmen at the workshop – a painstaking process requiring great skill and patience to achieve a consistent appearance and feel across the entire piece. From indices to hands, all decorative elements on the dial are available in either a yellow gold construction or gold-plated variant, resulting in a harmonious color scheme that echoes the watch’s 750 yellow gold case.

As per Anthony de Haas, Director of Product Development at A. Lange & Söhne, the Datograph Handwerkskunst takes artisanal craftsmanship to new heights. From every angle, intricate details emerge that speak volumes about the exceptional skill of our engravers and finishers at A. Lange & Söhne.

With a width of 41mm and a thickness of 13.1mm, this watch showcases its intricately crafted L951.8 Manufacture caliber through an open sapphire crystal caseback. This exclusive timepiece comes with a hand-stitched dark-brown alligator strap and is available in only 25 unique pieces worldwide – the Datograph Handwerkskunst model.
