As a design enthusiast with a penchant for unique and thoughtfully crafted pieces, I must say that the collaboration between Aesop and Bocci has truly captured my heart. Having frequented many an Aesop store over the years for their exquisite personal care products, it’s a delight to see them delve into the world of lighting design.

Aesop, known for its personal care products, has stepped into a new realm by collaborating with design studio Bocci to create a lamp. This rechargeable light sphere produces a warm, amber glow, evoking the comfortable, modern ambiance you’d find in an Aesop store.

This lamp is designed to resemble Bocci’s 14p pendant style, featuring two half-spheres crafted from hand-poured glass that encase the light source within. To mimic Aesop’s deep brown bottle color, the designers have maintained the artisanal quality of the glass by allowing for unique variations such as air bubbles trapped within the material. The lamp’s exterior is finished with frosted granite, which scatters the light into a soft, organic, and irregular texture. The lamp’s warm, candlelit quality is reminiscent of the brand’s aesthetic that draws inspiration from antique folklore and literature.

The distinctive lighting setup, jointly designed, is showcased at three Aesop retail spots: the Meatpacking District and Rockefeller Center stores in New York City, as well as the brand’s Gastown outlet in Vancouver. Aesop stores have long been a platform where the brand expresses its identity, continually collaborating with top-tier interior and architectural firms for unique, location-specific installations and designs, such as the recent Aesop Diagonal by Mesura Studio launch in Barcelona, Spain. In recent times, these stores have also hosted thought-provoking events like the annual Queer Library during Pride month, providing free books to guests.
