After The Golden Bachelorette's Rob Lowe Admission, She Revealed How Her Love For Kevin Costner Factored Into Avoiding Spoilers

As a long-time fan of reality TV, I must say that Joan Vassos’ journey on The Golden Bachelorette has been nothing short of entertaining! From her hilarious jabs at Rob Lowe to her heartfelt confessions about Kevin Costner, she’s certainly kept us all guessing.

Joan Vassos caused quite a stir among Bachelor Nation when she playfully suggested that her affection for Rob Lowe was so intense that she’d abandon fiancé Chock Chapple in just a minute, but it seems that the actor from “9-1-1: Lone Star” isn’t the only famous face who has caught her attention. At 61 years old and fresh off her stint on the first season of “The Golden Bachelorette,” set to air in 2024, Vassos has also declared her admiration for Kevin Costner. Interestingly enough, this adoration appears to have played a role in preserving the surprise ending of her season.

In the final episode of Season 1 of “The Golden Bachelorette,” which aired on November 13 and is available with a Hulu subscription, we witnessed Joan Vassos getting engaged to Chock Chapple. Interestingly, this proposal occurred back in early August. So, to keep their engagement a secret and avoid spoilers, the happy couple had to conceal their relationship for three months. A part of this secrecy involved creating aliases for each other on their phones. In this case, Vassos revealed to Decider that Kevin Costar from “Yellowstone” served as inspiration for Chapple’s alias name.

In my phone, he’s Kevin C — Kevin Costner. [Laughs]

It’s hard to fault Joan Vassos for having a crush on Kevin Costner, with his roles in “Field of Dreams” and “The Bodyguard”. Compared to Rob Lowe, her choice in celebrities is certainly impeccable.

As a devoted fan, it was undeniably disheartening for me when the fifth and concluding season of “Yellowstone” returned, only to shockingly reveal (spoiler alert!) that John Dutton met his end. The renowned star of “The Golden Bachelorette” opened up about overcoming the loss of Kevin Costner – a journey that transcended mere acting! She elaborated further:

I love him. He’s not on this season though, so I’m sorry, Kevin Costner. You’re done. And today I’m gonna change [Chock’s] name to a normal name in my phone because he’s still Kevin in my phone.

Man, this month’s really got me in a tight spot. First, they off John Dutton on Yellowstone – no Kevin Costner in sight, but it still drew the show’s highest ratings ever. And now, Joan Vassos is deleting my number? Talk about adding insult to injury when a guy’s already down!

As a devotee, I can’t help but share my excitement about the recent comments made by the reality star regarding the ‘Bull Durham’ actor. This isn’t far removed from when she publicly gushed over Rob Lowe during an interview on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’. Guess who caught wind of it? None other than the legendary ‘West Wing’ actor himself! And let me tell you, Rob Lowe had a witty response that made me chuckle. He jokingly proposed himself as the next ‘Golden Bachelor’, claiming it to be even more prestigious than a Golden Globe in his eyes. What a charmer!

Currently, we’re unsure who will star as the lead for “The Golden Bachelor” Season 2, but it’s unlikely to be Rob Lowe due to his marital status. Our prediction leans towards Mark Anderson, Jonathan Rone, or Charles Ling… or perhaps one of Joan’s former contestants who hasn’t started a new relationship by next summer.

In the meantime, enthusiasts of Bachelor Nation are simply passing the time until the 2025 television season when ‘The Bachelor’ featuring Grant Ellis begins. The exciting adventure commences at 8 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, January 27, only on ABC.
