Ahead Of Criminal Minds: Evolution's High-Stakes Season 2 Finale, Paget Brewster Hypes What She Thinks Will Make Fans 'Very Happy'

As a long-time fan of Criminal Minds and its spin-off Evolution, I must say that the anticipation for the Season 2 finale is palpable! The penultimate episode left us on the edge of our seats, with Prentiss and Rossi potentially in grave danger.

Don’t say that “Criminal Minds” is incapable of creating a cliffhanger on Paramount+. Instead, the second season of “Evolution,” episode 21, left some significant unanswered questions and causes for worry, especially for Prentiss. The wait for the Season 2 finale will conclude on August 1 for Paramount+ members, and Paget Brewster shared insights with TopMob about what’s to come in the 2024 TV lineup that should delight fans by the end of the season.

Just before the conclusion of the second season’s penultimate episode, it appeared that the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) was on the brink of a significant victory. The villains were cornered, and the team had a chance to rescue a young girl. However, things took an unexpected turn in the last moments when Jade apparently set off a large amount of explosives inside the training center, where at least Prentiss and Rossi were located.

In conversation prior to the finale, Paget Brewster hinted at exciting developments rather than revealing major plot points that might spoil the unexpected twists.

As a long-time fan of this series and someone who has closely followed its development over the years, I must say that the latest episode was nothing short of extraordinary. The suspense and anticipation leading up to its release was palpable, and it certainly did not disappoint.

While Brewster hints at a possible season-ending cliffhanger by referring to “questions,” it’s clear we shouldn’t dismiss this possibility. In fact, some of the answers sound quite promising! Additionally, it’s reassuring that “Criminal Minds: Evolution” was swiftly renewed for Season 3 following the premiere of Season 2, which means fans can rest easy knowing any lingering questions will eventually be addressed.

In Season 2, the Behavioral Analysis Unit faced numerous challenges, with the presence of Voit for an extended period being only one of them. Prentiss was on the verge of losing control until her job was at stake and received a timely (though somewhat intoxicated) motivational talk from JJ. Meanwhile, JJ was grappling with the revelation about BAUgate.

In summary, the idea of some joy certainly seems wonderful! When reflecting on Season 2 of Evolution, Paget Brewster discussed both elements that would please fans and aspects she feels accomplished about, as shared in her insights.

As a gamer putting my gaming hat on, let me tell you this: I’m absolutely thrilled about it! This one’s a crackerjack, folks! It’s an outstanding episode we’ve got here. Now, I can’t help but brag a bit. I mean, I’m not just blowing my own trumpet, but everyone else’s too! From my friends to the whole team – writers, directors, our DP, the cast – everybody gave their A-game for this one. It was a challenging production, and then I caught a bug after wrapping up, but boy, did they go wild at the rap party! Karaoke sessions were off the charts, and even while I was laid up on the couch due to illness, I couldn’t help but enjoy the videos from the festivities all night. But let me assure you, it’s not just me who thinks so – this is a top-notch episode that our audience will undoubtedly adore!

Fortunately, fans won’t have much longer to discover if they’ll be satisfied with the finale. The Season 2 finale, which is actually Season 17 in the broader Criminal Minds universe, will stream live on Paramount+ starting on Thursday, August 1st.

Apart from “Criminal Minds” and its fifteen CBS seasons, as well as the two seasons of “Evolution,” you can also stream on the platform. I’m glad that Paramount+ swiftly renewed the series, which means I no longer have to wonder if it will continue beyond the second season.
