As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for talent and personal growth, I must say that Alia Bhatt’s journey from being a ‘mannequin’ in Student of the Year to a National Award-winning actor is truly inspiring. Her ability to transform herself into diverse characters, mastering local accents and portraying raw emotion, is nothing short of astounding.
Alia Bhatt has climbed up the ladder of success to become a renowned National Award-winning actor with many successful movies under her belt. She first entered the world of acting as an adult back in 2012, with the movie Student Of The Year. Although her character Shanaya Singhania in Karan Johar’s teen film was adored by everyone, Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt felt she was merely a doll or mannequin in it at first.
During an interview with India Today, renowned filmmaker, producer, and screenwriter Mahesh Bhatt discussed his daughter’s acting performances in various movies. He praised Alia Bhatt’s portrayals in films such as Highway and Udta Punjab, expressing astonishment at how she, who grew up in the bustling urban environment of Mumbai, managed to convincingly adopt a local accent and portray a migrant worker so effortlessly.
The filmmaker expressed, “I was truly heartbroken by Udta Punjab.” Bhatt further mentioned that he was surprised when the girl from Juhu managed to portray the accent of an Adivasi from Chhattisgarh authentically. He admired it deeply, saying, “It was incredible, I was left speechless.” Additionally, the director praised his daughter for her raw power and ability to delve into such a fragile emotional space, revealing her heart honestly.
Yet, he critically evaluated the actress who played Gangubai Kathiawadi in her first film. The director commented that her roles in those movies were a significant departure from the girl who was merely a mannequin in Student of the Year. Alia’s father also praised her transformation and expressed his pride at seeing such change in their child.
During the same interview, he also shared some thoughts about his granddaughter, Raha Kapoor. Mahesh confessed that his attention has transitioned from his daughter to Alia and Ranbir Kapoor’s child. He articulated that upon becoming a grandfather, he discovered what everyone across the world has felt since the beginning of time.
Furthermore, the experienced director expressed his desire for Raha to watch his film, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin when she becomes older. He chose this movie because it’s one of his most emotionally touching productions, starring Pooja Bhatt and Aamir Khan. He also suggested Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, another film that tells a unique love story, saying it connects deeply with the human heart.
