As a gamer who’s been through countless virtual worlds and narratives, I can confidently say that Alicia Silverstone‘s latest role in “Irish Blood” promises an immersive journey that rivals even the most captivating video games. The combination of mystery, drama, and suspense is a recipe for an engaging tale that I can’t wait to be a part of, virtually or otherwise!
Alicia Silverstone is heading to the Emerald Isle for her next TV role.
Silverstone will feature in and take on an executive producer role for the murder-mystery series titled Irish Blood, produced by AMC Networks’ streaming service Acorn TV. In this production, she portrays Fiona Sharpe, a divorce attorney based in Los Angeles who is prompted to travel to Ireland upon receiving a letter from her long-lost father. There, she embarks on a journey to unravel the mystery surrounding his disappearance.
The production of a six-part television show has started in Dublin. The ensemble for Irish Blood includes Wendy Crewson, Jason O’Mara, Dearbhla Molloy, Simone Kirby, Ruth Codd, and Leonardo Taiwo.
‘Irish Blood’ is about a woman embarking on a journey of self-discovery and facing her past following an unexpected trip overseas,” Silverstone explained in a statement. “I adore the sense of surprise in the narrative and how the character encounters a blend of drama, humor, and suspense.
This series originates from the pens of writers such as Aaron Martin (known for “Being Erica”), Christina Ray (“Murdoch Mysteries”), Mike O’Leary (“Bodkin”), and John Krizanc (of Peacock’s “Departure”). Molly McGlynn, recognized for her work in “Grown-ish” and “The Big Door Prize”, is directing. The production companies Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures are behind the show, in collaboration with AMC Studios and with backing from incentives for the Irish film industry offered by the Irish government, the Canadian Film or Video Production Tax Credit, and Ontario Creates. AMC Studios retains global distribution rights.
Acorn TV boasts an extensive collection of captivating mysteries, and this contemporary, clever, intelligent drama is no exception. It’s sure to leave viewers on the edge of their seats until the very last second,” said Rob Fox, executive vice president of production at AMC Networks, who manages original programming for Acorn TV. “We’re thrilled to welcome Alicia to our team. Her talent and charisma bring a fresh dimension to Fiona in this incredible story penned by Aaron, Christina, Mike, and John.
Silverstone will appear next in the A24 horror comedy “Y2K”, scheduled for release in September. Previously, the “Clueless” actress has also been involved with projects like “The Baby-Sitters Club” on Netflix, as well as “Reptile” and “Senior Year”.
The executive producers of Irish Blood are headed by Christina Jennings, chairman and CEO of Shaftesbury, Scott Garvie, co-founder of Deadpan Pictures Paul Donovan, Ailish McElmeel, Martin, Ray, Silverstone, and McGlynn. Paige Haight and Catherine McGee are also among the producers.
