As a movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I, Andy Serkis, have revealed the stellar voice cast for my eagerly anticipated animated adaptation of George Orwell’s iconic 1945 novella, “Animal Farm.” The talented Seth Rogen (“The Studio”) takes the lead role as the power-hungry pig Napoleon. Alongside him, a host of barnyard animals will instigate a rebellion against their human oppressors in an effort to seize control of the farm. However, under the iron fist of the tyrannical Napoleon’s dictatorship, the herd will encounter fresh challenges and hardships, compelling them to find the fortitude to challenge the patriarch.
The ensemble of “Animal Farm” features actors like Gaten Matarazzo from “Stranger Things”, Steve Buscemi known for “Boardwalk Empire”, Glenn Close recognized for “Fatal Attraction”, Laverne Cox famous for “Orange is the New Black”, Kieran Culkin well-known for “Succession”, Woody Harrelson acclaimed in “True Detective”, Jim Parsons renowned from “The Big Bang Theory”, Kathleen Turner celebrated for “Peggy Sue Got Married”, and Iman Vellani, star of “Ms. Marvel”. Furthermore, in addition to his directorial role, Andy Serkis will also provide the voice for one of the characters, specifically the pessimistic donkey Benjamin, as indicated on the film’s IMDb page.
Andy Serkis has been planning to direct “Animal Farm” for more than ten years, and he officially took on the role in 2012. He is leading this movie adaptation from a screenplay penned by Nicholas Stoller, who has previously worked on projects like “The Muppets” and “Storks.” This will be the third film adaptation of the satirical political story, following the 1954 animated version and the 1999 live-action movie. The upcoming release is expected to give a contemporary twist to the classic narrative, with Stoller describing it as “a bit updated” and “more darkly comedic than the original book.”
