Aloft: Beginner’s Tips

Up in the sky, you’ll find an exhilarating adventure called “Aloft.” This game invites you to traverse a series of drifting islands, each filled with hidden mysteries, tough obstacles, and diverse supplies.

If you’re just starting, the world can feel huge, and the mechanics might throw you off.

Juggling everything from island adventures to ecosystem upkeep is no small feat.

But don’t sweat it; this guide will help you hit the ground running.

Want to Get the Most Out of Aloft? Try These Tips

Aloft throws you into a world of floating islands where survival is key.

The game provides an opportunity for you to venture through numerous drifting isles, all boasting unique resources, peculiar wildlife, and concealed enigmas.

The mission is to explore, restore ecosystems, and discover the world’s mysteries.

You’ll gather necessary items, create your equipment, battle corrupted beings, and restore harmony to nature as you navigate numerous challenges along the way.

It’s pretty manageable, but you must be mindful of the ecosystem on every island you visit.

Here’s a quick rundown to help you kickstart your adventure.

1. Claim Your Home Island as Soon as You Can

The first thing you’ll need to do in Aloft is set up a Home Island.

After completing the tutorial and navigating past the initial cavern, a Wisdom Rock guides you on creating a Personal Kite.

This is important because the Home Kite helps you claim an island to call your base.

After configuring it, your personal island serves as a respawn point when you meet your demise, and you can swiftly return there by using teleportation.

You’ll always find a secure spot for coming back to, where you can keep your supplies and create your crafts, without worrying about running out of room.

To keep your supplies neatly sorted as you collect wood, stones, leaves, and other resources, make sure you have some storage containers handy.

Make sure to periodically offload items into these to free up space for more exploration.

2. Glide & Cruise with Momentum on Your Side

You’ll mostly use the glider to get around in the early game.

You can glide between islands when you have it, but there are a few things to watch out for.

I wanted to remind you that gliding can only go on for so long, as your energy (strength) will eventually run low if you don’t take breaks and rest periodically.

As a thrill-seeker, I’m excited to share some great news! When you feel like you’re losing speed, you can regain it by soaring with the upcurrents or swiftly diving down.

In the heat of a fight, momentum grants me an edge – allowing me to unleash powerful special attacks and swiftly soar through the air at increased speeds when gliding.

The key to lasting longer and moving smoother is managing your momentum wisely.

3. Sketch Anything You like to Unlock New Blueprints

The Sketchbook is one of your best resources.

As I journey through these virtual lands, I’ll use this magical sketchbook to unveil hidden crafting secrets. It allows me to draw structures I come across during my adventures, revealing a plethora of new crafting possibilities!

Just create your Sketchbook with paper, charcoal, and wood on your workbench, then place it in your inventory for easy access.

As you go about exploring, seek out unique structures or objects that you can draw or manipulate with your Sketchbook.

As a player, whenever I spot a structure marked in vibrant yellow, I can take out my drawing tools and capture its design to gain access to fresh blueprints within my crafting interface.

Discovering new buildings and crafting ideas you wouldn’t have found otherwise is a simple trick.

4. Don’t Let the Island Go Bad on You

Each island in Aloft has its own ecosystem, and it’s up to you to keep it running smoothly.

Certain islands have become contaminated, necessitating a clean-up effort involving combatting harmful fungi and rejuvenating the vegetation.

Some nearby islands could potentially be restricted because they have weak ecological conditions, which means there’s nothing to collect as resources.

If you’re curious about an island’s health, the Field Guide is your best bet.

Once you wear it, you’ll be well-aware of the tasks at hand – whether that involves planting trees, relocating animals on your Native Isle, or maintaining the ecosystem.

Pay close attention to the well-being of these isles. Restoring them to their optimal state will provide additional resources and accelerate your advancement.

5. Be Smart About Resource Gathering

At Aloft, you should gather diverse materials for creating and construction, yet remember to avoid stockpiling excessively on any particular island.

Excessive resource extraction from an island can deplete its ecological balance, leaving the environment barren and incapable of providing additional resources until it recovers.

It’s advisable to distribute your collection among various islands. Bring only what is essential, and always keep in mind the surroundings as you proceed.

Should you come across mushrooms, worms, or other decomposers, gather them if possible. These organisms play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance by breaking down organic matter and recycling nutrients.

Make sure to search for glowing stones during the harvest – these important rocks aid in elevating your island’s flying capabilities. Gather them whenever possible.

6. Don’t Wipe Out an Island

As I soar through the skies of Aloft, the thrill is unparalleled! However, if you’re not keeping a sharp eye out, you could easily overlook those hidden treasures lurking around.

Don’t skip checking behind waterfalls, under rocks, and beneath islands as you glide by.

Concealed maps and plans are hidden in spots that could easily go unnoticed unless one carefully observes.

Take a look at these maps, and use them to place marks on your Table Chart for significant spots, as well as identify the islands that remain unexplored.

Don’t miss the caves and hidden spots where you can find valuable loot and materials for crafting.

You never know when a treasure chest, blueprint, or hidden resource will pop up.
