Alpine Unveils Limited Edition A290 EV Hatchback

As a long-time enthusiast of classic cars and eco-friendly technology, the Alpine A290 electric hatchback has certainly caught my eye! With its roots deeply embedded in the iconic Renault Five, this modern iteration promises an exciting blend of sporty performance and sustainable living.

Alpine has begun accepting orders for their new all-electric model, the A290, which is reminiscent of the Renault Five. This vehicle signifies Alpine’s debut in the electric sports car segment. The A290 offers two power choices: 177 horsepower and 217 horsepower, both partnered with a 52-kWh battery capable of traveling up to 380 kilometers according to WLTP standards.

The A290 series offers four distinct models: A290 Sport, A290 Luxury, A290 Performance, and A290 Grand Touring Sport. These options cater to diverse tastes, ranging from enthusiasts who prefer a sporty ride to individuals seeking comfort, style, and luxury.

Representing the more performance-facing option, the A290 GT Performance delivers 217 hp, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 6.4 seconds, with a top speed of 105 mph. This model also includes Alpine Telemetrics for performance monitoring. Topping the range is the A290 GTS, combining the power of the 217 hp engine with luxury features like 19-inch black Snowflake wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tires and a refined Nappa leather interior. Alpine has also introduced a limited “Première Édition” series of 1,955 units, in tribute to the brand’s founding year.

Currently, you can place orders for all four versions of the model directly through Alpine’s official website. The prices for these models are between €38,700 and €46,200 EUR, which is roughly equivalent to $42,300 to $50,500 USD.
