As a passionate movie enthusiast, I remember with delight the Netflix release of “The Sandman” TV adaptation in August 2022, which garnered praise from critics. However, it wasn’t until November 2023 that we got the good news about Season 2. Filming for the new episodes took place between late November 2023 and August 2024, delayed by the SAG-AFTRA strike. Since then, there’s been a bit of uncertainty regarding the release plan for “The Sandman” Season 2 and its future. Well, today we learned that Season 2 will indeed air in 2025, but sadly, it seems this will be the end of the series.
According to reports, Netflix has chosen to conclude “The Sandman” after merely two seasons due to its high production costs. This decision comes amidst accusations of sexual misconduct leveled against Neil Gaiman, the author of the original “Sandman” comic series and an executive producer on the TV show. However, it’s been suggested that even before these allegations surfaced in July 2024, the series was anticipated to wrap up with Season 2 due to its costly production.
