The acclaimed Indian filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga burst onto the scene with his first Telugu film, Arjun Reddy, demonstrating that he was here to dominate the box office. Subsequently, he ventured into Bollywood by remaking his debut work as Kabir Singh in Hindi. A few years on, the highly successful Animal, headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, shattered numerous box office records despite a mix of audience opinions. In a discussion with the YouTube channel Game Changers, Sandeep Reddy Vanga opened up about his professional journey, the feedback on his movies, and various other topics. When posed with an intriguing question: ‘Would you prefer to make a movie without any songs or a movie without a male lead actor?’, this director expressed his thoughts.
In a swift response, I shared, “I won’t delay in expressing this: I have an idea for a film that will not feature a male lead actor.” Upon hearing this, the host expressed delight, suggesting that many would appreciate my choice. I responded, “They may still find faults, but rest assured, I can put it in writing. In the next 4-5 years, I plan to bring this project to life. And you’ll agree with me when I say, ‘What he said five years ago rings true.’
In the same interview, Sandeep preferred Ranbir Kapoor over Shahid Kapoor and opted for the movie “Animal” instead of “Kabir Singh”. The director of “Animal” also discussed how the film was longer than typical and that Ranbir was supportive of all the choices made. As stated by SRV, the 2023 action-thriller’s success can be attributed to the rapport between him and the well-known Bollywood actor.
In explaining his point, he said, “For any scene in a movie, an actor could respond, ‘No, that went a bit overboard, or it wasn’t quite enough.’ He further noted that there was a strong correlation between their preferences because whatever he found appealing, the actor from Sanju also favored.
