Tune up your piano, Schroeder: Apple TV+ has set its first original Peanuts musical.

Snoopy’s Summer Spectacular” is the first Peanuts musical special in three and a half decades. Ben Folds (known for his work with Ben Folds Five, and also the composer of “It’s the Small Things, Charlie Brown”) will create original music for its July 18 premiere. Additionally, Jeff Morrow will contribute to the music as well. The musical has a duration of 40 minutes.

This summer, Charlie Brown aims to make his last year at camp extraordinary, while Sally, a first-time camper, feels anxious about the new and strange surroundings. Meanwhile, Snoopy and Woodstock stumble upon a treasure map that leads them on an exhilarating journey, as depicted by Apple TV+.

In another update from Apple: “One morning, the Peanuts group discovers that their cherished summer camp is closing due to a decrease in attendance. This news deeply affects Charlie Brown, who feels despair at the thought of losing a place that holds immense importance for him and his companions. Meanwhile, Snoopy and Woodstock stumble upon a long-lost treasure chest during their travels, but are disheartened when they find it contains musical instruments and photos from past summer concerts at the camp instead of wealth. However, this discovery sparks an idea in Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang, who decide to use the treasure to organize their own concert as a means to save the camp.

Presented for Apple TV+ by Peanuts and WildBrain, Snoopy’s Summer Musical Spectacular is helmed by director Erik Wiese and penned by Craig Schulz, Bryan Schulz, and Cornelius Uliano. The executive producers include the Schulzes, Uliano, Paige Braddock, Josh Scherba, Stephanie Betts, and Logan McPherson.
