As a gamer who grew up with the magic of Pixar and a love for all things ’90s, I can’t help but appreciate the clever nod Sabrina Carpenter made to Toy Story 2 in her post-concert video. As someone who has spent countless hours at concerts, there’s nothing quite like the anticipation of that final outro moment, and Sabrina has managed to turn it into a delightful surprise for her fans.
After Sabrina Carpenter dominating the music charts with a series of major pop hits this year, the talented singer kicked off her inaugural arena tour this week. On Monday, fans in Columbus, Ohio were the first to enjoy Carpenter’s grand performance, and there’s an intriguing detail about the event that has been spreading like wildfire on social media which I simply can’t get enough of.
When Carpenter kicked off her Short n’ Sweet tour, my social feeds were inundated with clips, as expected. Yet, what really left me grinning ear-to-ear was the post-concert pre-recorded video for fans – it’s hilarious, and I suspect it pays homage to one of Pixar’s finest films. Don’t miss it on TikTok!

If you’re a fan of Sabrina Carpenter, you know she has a playful approach to her music. She enjoys adding a touch of “whimsy” to both her tunes and performances, as evidenced by the videos from her fall tour. As someone who attends many concerts, I’d find myself chuckling at Sabrina Carpenter’s antics, like when she unexpectedly pops up on the screen for this outro video, reminding fans to “drive safely,” expressing her love for “singing,” and hoping they enjoyed hearing her sing “for that long.
She also calls out the merch table but in a deadpan delivery, shares that she has no idea whether there’s any merch left, since she shot the video “months ago.” It’s simply hilarious. What’s particularly funny about it is how it immediately reminded me of a scene in the 1999 Pixar film Toy Story 2. And I wasn’t the only one either. Someone dug up the part of the movie that Carpenter’s video reminds me of. Check it:
This memorable moment at the end of Toy Story 2 will always stay vivid in my mind. It was hilarious to watch Tour Guide Barbie continuing her spiel even after the credits rolled, as more and more audience members left the theater. What made it even funnier was when Barbie, breaking character, complained about her smile hurting and her mouth aching severely. It’s always entertaining to witness characters stepping out of their roles, and I can only imagine that this scene must have inspired Carpenter in some way, right? Here’s another fan who also found this comparison amusing:
Born in the nineties, it seems fitting to acknowledge her connection with a remarkable movie from that decade, one that holds a special place in many people’s childhood memories. Given the current popularity of ‘Barbiecore’, referencing this classic adds an extra touch of relevance!
Sabrina Carpenter is planning a tour across North America that will continue until mid-November, after which she’ll pause for the holiday season. Starting in March, she’ll travel to Europe for additional concert dates. Excitingly, her fans can catch a glimpse of her talent at home this December, as she’s set to release her own Christmas special, streaming exclusively on Netflix from December 6 with a subscription.
