Aubrey Plaza Reveals Why She Hasnt Watched White Lotus Yet

As a movie critic with a penchant for nostalgia, I must confess that I find myself drawn to Aubrey Plaza, the quirky yet captivating actress who graced our screens in The White Lotus. However, her relationship with the show is as enigmatic as her on-screen persona.

Aubrey Plaza, who graced the second season of Mike White’s acclaimed HBO series The White Lotus, surprisingly hasn’t seen any episodes from the popular show herself. The ensemble cast, which included big names like Michael Imperioli, F. Murray Abraham, Jennifer Coolidge, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, and Theo James, were transported to Italy for this season. Plaza portrayed Harper Spiller, a character whose marriage with her husband Ethan (Will Sharpe) was already strained, and the tense vacation only served to push their relationship towards its breaking point.

“The TV series ‘The White Lotus’, which has garnered a total of 15 Emmys over its two seasons and is anticipated to reign in the upcoming third season, is a hit that Aubrey Plaza, star of ‘Parks and Recreation’, hasn’t had a chance to watch. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, she explained the down-to-earth reason for her lack of viewing: she just couldn’t get her streaming service password to function properly.”

“Initially, I encountered difficulties in setting up my HBO Max account as I was trying to watch it. I struggled with remembering the password and often lose patience when dealing with such issues regarding passwords. However, I plan on resolving this issue soon.”

Furthermore, Plaza shared that during her project work, she often requests a DVD from the producers upon completion of the film or series. However, with the surge of various streaming services, many production companies no longer produce these DVDs. Jokingly, Plaza commented on this change.

“I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.”

Aubrey Plaza Hates the Rise of Streaming Services

For modern cinephiles and audiences, streaming platforms have become an invaluable resource. The ability to watch almost any movie or show at the tap of a button was once incomprehensible. However, streaming services now pose a new problem for audiences… figuring out which of the dozens of platforms a particular movie is streaming on. It turns out, even major Hollywood stars, despite their industry connections, have the same problem.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Aubrey Plaza openly expressed her intense dislike for streaming platforms. Although she has subscriptions to numerous services, Plaza often becomes so aggravated that she eventually purchases the content she’s trying to watch on iTunes, when she can’t seem to get the streaming service functioning correctly.

Originally, I was attempting to stream Top Chef season 20 on Hulu + Live. However, I found it frustratingly difficult to figure out the process. In the end, I decided to throw in the towel and couldn’t make it work. Instead, when I’m in this kind of predicament, I resort to purchasing old movies from iTunes. Sometimes, I even buy entire series like The Sopranos, but my husband always reminds me that we can watch it for free on HBO Max.

The rise in the number of streaming services has become a contentious issue among audiences. The technology that viewers once thought would make network TV extinct has essentially reverted to network TV with extra steps and additional subscriptions.
