As a seasoned gamer and tech-savvy individual who has dealt with countless password woes, I wholeheartedly empathize with Aubrey Plaza’s predicament. It’s not every day that we encounter an Emmy-nominated actor sharing our struggles in the digital realm, so it’s refreshing to see someone as talented as her being so relatable.

Contrary to some viewers’ expectations that Season 2 of The White Lotus would continue with the original cast members, the second season turned out to be a standout TV series in 2022. HBO and Max audiences eagerly awaited each new episode, and surprisingly, Aubrey Plaza – a key actor in Season 2 – has not yet seen the show that earned her her first Primetime Emmy nomination.

It’s not uncommon for actors to not want to watch themselves, especially if they hated the role or the way things turned out. Thankfully, Plaza doesn’t fall into the category, and her reason for not watching her phenomenal performance is much more relatable. In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, the Parks and Recreation star explained why she still hasn’t seen Season 2:

I still haven’t, but I’m going to. To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.

It’s surprising that Emmy-nominated actors are similar to us common folks, isn’t it? Not only did she struggle with remembering her password, but she also eventually gave up on watching her highly praised performance. Frankly, who wouldn’t under the same circumstances? The most frustrating experience is forgetting your password, followed by attempting to reset it and still being unable to access your email. And if that isn’t bad enough, hearing that you’ve already used your supposed “new” password can be even more infuriating.

People generally prefer avoiding such a complex process, and Max, with its occasionally less intuitive interface, is no exception. Moreover, as top streaming platforms are tightening their grip on password sharing, it’s unlikely that she could ask a fellow actor for assistance in this matter.

Unlike most streaming shows which can only be watched online, the Mike White series was also broadcasted live on HBO. This suggests that Plaza might have tuned in to the episodes via premium cable channel HBO. Whether she simply forgot about this option or doesn’t actually subscribe to HBO, based on her later comments to WSJMag, it appears she doesn’t have an HBO subscription.

I’d love a DVD, but they don’t send DVD sets anymore. I ask them every time.

Given her early experience in broadcasting through “Parks and Recreation,” it’s understandable that Plaza might anticipate a tangible copy of her work rather than a digital link or password. Regrettably, it appears that the era of physical media, including for celebrities themselves, seems to have passed.

It would be great if someone could assist Plaza so she can understand why her performance received such accolades – and perhaps this might even reveal more amusing anecdotes behind the scenes, such as the time when she and a fellow actor consumed mushrooms during their leisure hours while hiking.
