As a seasoned gamer and avid film enthusiast who’s seen it all, from the rise of indie games to the evolution of Hollywood blockbusters, I must say that the casting news for Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming film, Caught Stealing, is nothing short of exhilarating!
It’s been confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter that Bad Bunny has become the newest big name to be part of Darren Aronofsky’s upcoming movie, titled “Caught Stealing.”
World-renowned entertainer is set to team up with Zoë Kravitz and Austin Butler for Sony Picture’s crime thriller, which is an adaptation of Charlie Huston’s novel with the same title. The identity of the character that the artist will play in the movie has not been disclosed yet.
The narrative centers around Hank Thompson (played by Butler), a weary ex-baseball player who unexpectedly finds himself embroiled in a thrilling struggle for survival amidst the chaotic criminal underbelly of 1990s New York City.
This past summer, the Grammy-winning musician concluded his tour titled “Most Wanted,” which was promoting his latest album entitled “Nobody Knows What Tomorrow Holds.”
In his debut acting performance, Bad Bunny starred as Arturo “Kitty” Páez in the series ‘Narcos: Mexico’, appearing in four episodes. Subsequently, he shared screen time with Brad Pitt in the movie ‘Bullet Train’ produced by Sony, where he played the character of an assassin named Wolf. His latest acting stint was seen in the film ‘Cassandro’, portraying Felipe opposite Gael García Bernal’s lead wrestler character.
The artist from Latin origin is also involved as a producer for the Netflix version of “They Both Die at the End”, a book written by Adam Silvera, a writer of Puerto Rican descent.
Aronofsky is teaming up with Protozoa Pictures partner Ari Handel to produce the upcoming movie. Additionally, Aronofsky is developing a biopic about Elon Musk at A24. Previously, he collaborated with this studio on his Academy Award-winning film, “The Whale,” which featured Brendan Fraser in the lead role.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some incredibly talented individuals on a diverse range of projects. These include the gripping “Requiem for a Dream,” the hauntingly beautiful “Black Swan,” the biblical epic “Noah,” the thought-provoking “Mother!,” the compelling “The Good Nurse,” the poignant “Jackie” directed by Pablo Larraín, and the intriguing “Some Kind of Heaven” from Lance Oppenheim’s lens. These are just a few of the many remarkable journeys we’ve shared together.
