As a seasoned gamer of both films and life, I must say that the addition of Barry Keoghan to the cast of Netflix’s Peaky Blinders film is nothing short of electrifying! With his recent Oscar nomination and BAFTA win under his belt, this young Irishman has been on a roll. His versatility in roles from Martin McDonagh’s The Banshees of Inisherin to Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn is a testament to his acting prowess.
Actor Barry Keoghan has been confirmed to join the cast of the upcoming Netflix film “Peaky Blinder,” alongside Cillian Murphy and Rebecca Ferguson. The specific roles for both Keoghan and Ferguson are yet to be revealed, but according to Deadline, the movie adaptation of “Peaky” has received the green light and will feature Murphy reprising his iconic role as Tommy Shelby, the powerful head of a criminal family in Birmingham.
Renowned series creator Steven Knight is scheduled to work on the movie in conjunction with Murphy, Caryn Mandabach, and Guy Heeley. Additionally, Tom Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason are serving as executive producers. At this point, neither Knight nor Harper have disclosed the storyline, but Knight has hinted that the film will take place during World War II and production is anticipated to start this year.
I can hardly contain my excitement as a dedicated fan! Keoghan has truly made a name for himself, garnering an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor and winning a BAFTA for Martin McDonagh’s “The Banshees of Inisherin” and Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn.” His talents are on full display in Apple TV+’s limited series “Masters of the Air,” and he recently premiered Andrea Arnold’s “Bird” at Cannes Film Festival. Next month, I eagerly anticipate his attendance at the Toronto International Film Festival for “Bring Them Down.” Simply put, Keoghan is on fire!
