Black List Script ’Paparazzo’ Lands at Passage Pictures

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the virtual world of tabloid journalism in games like “Paparazzi!” and “Celebrity Scandal Simulator,” I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for the upcoming film, “Paparazzo.” The synopsis, reminiscent of real-life tabloid drama, promises an intriguing blend of morality, ambition, and the seedy underbelly of fame.

The screenplay titled “Paparazzo,” penned by Christian Nilsson and recognized as one of the year’s top unproduced scripts on the 2024 Black List, has been acquired by Passage Pictures – a production company helmed by Uri Singer, who is also known for producing White Noise.

The story unfolds within the realm of sensational media, starring an unscrupulous individual in dire need of quick money to support his sickly mother. This character forms an alliance with a cunning photographer specializing in celebrity snaps. However, their quest for captivating images leads them into a murder mystery involving rising stars from the world of young celebrities.

Speaking of Nilsson, fresh off the completion of the movie “Westhampton”, he shared that his fascination has always been with outsiders – individuals who reside on society’s periphery, performing actions we often shy away from acknowledging. This film, he described, is a heartfelt tribute to this paradox. It’s not just about the pursuit of truth, but also about the scars it leaves behind. Uri grasped the essence of this story right away, and Nilsson believes there couldn’t be a more suitable collaborator to breathe life into it.

As soon as I encountered Christian, it was clear to me his exceptional talent for storytelling,” noted Singer, who teamed up with Nilsson under the Producers Guild of America’s mentorship program. “Westhampton” showcases his skill at portraying the subtleties of human feelings and the complexities of personal relationships. Collaborating with him on “Paparazzo” promises a unique chance to breathe life into an impactful tale, offering a new and invigorating viewpoint.

A performer, known for roles in “Tesla” and “Marjorie Prime,” has just completed the production of Bangladeshi filmmaker Maksud Hossain’s movie named “Saba.” This film made its premiere at both the Toronto International Film Festival and the Red Sea Film Festival.

Singer is repped by Knol Hanly. Nilsson is repped by Housefire Management.
