In contrast to speculations circulating online, a producer for “Black Panther 3” has clarified that there is no basis to the claims suggesting Marvel Studios intends to replace Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa. Boseman initially introduced the character of Black Panther in 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” which also marked the debut of Tom Holland as Spider-Man. The standalone film for Black Panther followed in 2018, making history as the first black superhero to headline a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Directed by Ryan Coogler, “Black Panther” was a groundbreaking moment in terms of representation within the genre. Tragically, Boseman passed away in 2020. The sequel, “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” was reworked to address his death, with Shuri (Letitia Wright) taking over as the new Black Panther and the revelation that T’Challa had a secret son. However, whispers have been swirling on the internet for several months about Marvel Studios possibly recasting T’Challa.
In a recent chat with ComicBook.com, Black Panther 3 producer Nate Moore addressed the circulating rumors. He clarified that these rumors are baseless, adding that while the studio won’t completely rule out the possibility of recasting the role in the future, they prefer to keep an open mind about everything (never say never). However, it’s important to note that Black Panther 3 is currently in its initial stages of production, with director Ryan Coogler engaged in his upcoming project, Sinners.
So far, we haven’t engaged in many imaginative discussions with Ryan Coogler due to his current focus on completing his movie Sinners, set for release this year. We plan to delve into it later this year; however, any information you may have read online about our collaboration should be taken with a grain of salt, as we haven’t initiated the project yet.
‘Black Panther 3’ Could Tie-In to ‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Information regarding Black Panther 3 is sparse at this point. Marvel Studios announced the film back in December, but it was actually Denzel Washington who disclosed its existence a month earlier during the press tour for Gladiator II. In addition to confirming that Black Panther 3 is indeed in production, Washington sent shockwaves through social media when he revealed that he will be part of the cast.
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe might be eager for Black Panther 3, but there are a few other Marvel films coming out before then. The upcoming movie, Captain America: Brave New World, could have connections to Black Panther 3. In the latest trailer for Brave New World, it was shown that a dead Celestial contains adamantium, a metal stronger than vibranium, which was used in Wolverine’s skeleton. Nate Moore mentioned that Wakanda might have something to say about this revelation, and they probably had thoughts on Sam Wilson (played by Anthony Mackie) becoming Captain America. Captain America: Brave New World hits theaters on February 14, 2025.
